I leave tto those of you who love to hack and slash to get bored with politition. I love the Role playing part of it. Every one comes to me with questions, I hand out funds to get newbs started. I think it's great.

well after several months of having a sucsessful city, shuttleport, cantina, med center, cloning center, gardens and statues, our 3 guilds have decide no one wants to waste the points to be mayor and the cost far out ways the benifiets.

we can use our PAhall as a cantian and hospital and save a ton of money. there is another city not far and since we die very rarely near home a cloning center is not important the shuttle is the only thing that will be missed, but with no one stupid enough to waste the skill points and the costs involved in the city, and with no other real benifiets, bye bye

Here here!

If you don't want to be a politician, then don't!

Still waiting for a rank 5 opening.........

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

To each their own. I have been the mayor of Talath since player cities were released and, quite honestly, I am happy to hold that title. Once I hit master I will step aside if anyone the citizens feel is worthy decides to give politics a chance. That being said, I'll hold onto my Master Politician (once achieved) in the hopes for a Senator profession.

bye bye, uber leet dood...go flame cone a rancor

This is a role playing game, you know, you pretend to be an alien species living in the SW universe?

(I'm not really a Bothan IRL, shhhh.)

Politician is the profession that requires the most Rp'ing, as they really don't give you many skills.

Once the city is built, all you can do is keep your citizens happy.

It is a true commitment, with no financial or loot based rewards.

Just the reward of the city as an accomplishment, and a few happy faces in town.

Wanna waste a Kimo? Wrong profession.

I take that back, if you're a good mayor, you could get 100 citizens together and have them slay the uber creatures for you.

I really do not understand you guys sometimes. I too love the roleplayer aspects, I love helping newbs and building a thriving community from out of nothing. WHY do so many of you seem to this this should mean the other sides of your character have to be limited?! I will not dump politician regardless, i love it to much, but I dont see why I have to be limited like this for something that doesnt directly benefit my character.

One person's treasure is another person's garbage.

Some people think it's worth it, others don't. No sense trying to convince others that it is or isn't, you can never win

Some people would say that a thriving metropolis with happy and successfullplayers is the ultimate in uber loot.

On the opposite end of that, I personally know of a few cities that have failed because of massive exodus' by unhappy players.

While I enjoy my role as mayor of my server's first and most prominent roleplaying city...and obviously, yes, I roleplay it...I have to agree that the Politician class is a waste of skill points. I am also a doctor, which takes a huge number of skill points. BUT at least I can USE those skills on a daily basis, which is really the point. There is nothing about Politician that is useful on a daily basis. And this makes tying up those skill points reallyfrustrating, because I could be doing something else useful or fun with them. There is not one single thing about roleplaying the mayor's part that uses anything in the Politician class.

In my final template I will be a master doc, master swordsman or fencer (haven't decided which yet), and 0/1/0/0 politician, because militia management is the only thing that really needs doing once the city is all grown up. Any other points in politician would be wasted.

I agree, i just discussed this with guild leadership and we pretty much decided that i only need to be a novice politician to keep the city the way we want it. The city is exactly where we want it, as far as gardens, cantina, hospital, etc...and since we don't want to pay for a specialization then there is no need for me to have anything aside from the basic.

So here's my question, what happens if I dump novice politician? Will i lose the entire city or will everything remain the same?

Thanks

its all a matter of opinion. a lot of people want to be a politician because they will feel "special" by doing so. i did it because i enjoy that type of work. i run a guild with one character, and i run a city with another character. if you dont want to waste points, then you need to close up your city and move into one that has a dedicated person running it. this ensures that there will be a balanced number of cities (instead of overcrowding) and that cities will stand a better chance of getting larger.

if you arent willing to devote the effort, time, and skillpoints into running a city, then running a city is not for you.
