Thread: Not that it matters... but here are the practical issues in managing a city
I'm currently the mayor of a very nice Metropolis on Dantooine in Baishi. Here are the practical problems that I'm facing.
1. I can't tell who owns which structure.
2. I can't determine which structures are owned by non-citizens. With the upcoming purge of absentee citizens, this is going to be a major problem.
3. I can't remove structures owned by non-citizens from the city. I'm seriously afraid that the city will, over time, fill up with abandoned dwellings that can't be removed. I'd like the ability to boot a structure to outside of town, or to force a structure and its contents to re-deed. We know that the game has the ability to place backpacks of recovered items in people's inventories, even at the cost of temporarily overloading them.
Not that it matters.... its clear that the devs aren't listening and don't really care.

This is a real irritation.

This will forcibly whack cities down ranks, and force un-deserved demotions...

And this is exactly what will happen, forcing a city to lose it's city structures and amenities. As time progresses, and there being such a huge exodus of players OUT of swg...this will break cities.
Why not just force a 1 residency per player rule. Let the player decide on which server he wants his residence to be. This will effectively block ghost residents, and NOT penalize working cities.

Although we should not have to resort to this sort of daunting way of keeping track of our citizenry and structures whenever a building is "added" to your city radius, doesnt matter which structure the mayor receives an email for each structure giving you the name of that owner. You can simply compare that list to the list of who your declared citizens are and then you can figure out whos placing personal structures in your city that ought not to be. It would be nice if we were able to (with the right skill) to click ona structure and see the name of the owner in a bright green color (or pink.. whateva') above the name of the structure as well the color of the name can inform us if its owned by a citizen or not. It would save us so much time and be enormously useful, which means it probably will never be implemented.

The developers will probably never ever allow us to remove a structure or even simply move it for fear that immature players may use this to grief certain citizens or even any would be mayor who plans to run against them. I suggest you keep zoning rights enabled at all times, its a bit of an inconvenience but it will save you alot of frustration. For those structures that are added to your city when it expands unfortunetly there is nothing we can do about that. It would be a nice if buildings added to the city radius (by way of it expanding or even just in general) of whoms owners were not declared citizens yet were given a notice by email to declare within a certain time frame or their structures would be booted to the edge of town. This way the city mayor had nothing to do with it as it is the game moving people. Another method might be implementing some sort of voting system where we can vote (not only for who mayor is) but what powers they can have, if the majority of the citizenry votes to boot a list of people for whatever reason then to me it gives us the legitimacy we need to be able to boot them from the city all together. Even the devs cant deny the power of the majority, unless they are communist! Anyway Im rambling on now and probably went on a crazy tangent....
