Thread: Removing Militia Revisited
- A Mayor CAN remove a member of the Militia as long as the player IS ON THE SAME PLANET as your City. The player MUST be ONLINE.
- There is a bug with the /grantzoningrights command if you, as mayor - or one of yourMilitia - attempt to give thesepermissions to a player while inside a structure. The fix is to issue the command OUTSIDE of the structure.
- If you attempt to remove a member of the Militia while the player is either off planet AND OR offline, you will get an on screen message that you have successfully removed the player from the Militia. THIS IS INCORRECT. The player is NOT removed. In fact, you can check this by looking at the Militia list. His name will still be on the list of Militia. There is NO FIX or work around for this.
- Players who have been successfully removed from the Militia, will receive a message that they have been removed from the City Militia.
I would like to see the /grantzoningrights removed from the list of commands for the City Militia. Instead, allow the Mayor to grant the powerto exercise this command to anyone he chooses, and optionally, revoke those rights at will when needed regardless of whether or not the player is online or on the same planet. Perhaps this could be a "city councilman" or other title granted to a player by the Mayor.
Finally, you can compare the current system to that of a Guild Leader removing a member of their guild, simply by standing at the Guild Terminal and removing that member from the PA Member list or issuing a line command. The player does not need to be online or on the same planet. Why can't this be the same conditional statement with reference to the City Militia in the code? It's there... just implement it.

There is a workaround to this. Have the person you want to rremove off the militia within 10m of the term and then remove him/her. Worked for me. Good luck trying to get problem children to the term though.

I've been under the impression that a member of the City Militia can only be removed, whilethe player stands within 10m of the City Hall Terminal. I remember in the early days, that the Politicians were very upset about this, as the ramifications for griefing by a member of the Militia whose services were no longer requested -- could have dire consequences with the city. I am of course referring to the /grantzoningrights command that militia can execute.
I conducted some tests with this command with some members of my Militia because I do not recall any patch notes on this, nor have I seen this mentioned elsewhere in these threads (granted, I may have missed this) in recent weeks. In any case, it does not hurt to bring this to the attention of the newer politicians who may find this information helpful.
Here are my findings:
