Ever noticed how all lights (inside and out), fountains, terminals, facilities work without power? Now what if these would all require a small bit of power to work.

What if you were able to place a "Power Plant" in town in which you could put power to be distributed among the town, factories, houses, etc. And then charge an X amount ofcpu for it, price determinable by the mayor.

Citizens choosing to make use of the citys power would get a % decrease on their maintenance rate (or in the case of factorys, do not need to insert power themselfes at all) but do get a power bill every week. Not to mention for owners of factorieshave one less upkeep to worry about. It's attached to the city grid and if that fails, the mayor's got a problem

It would add something to the things to do and worry about as a mayor, not to mention could be an extra bit of income for the city. Buy in power very cheap or harvest it yourself and make a few credits for the treasury. Yes it has a simcity feel to it but that's how i play mayor

Oh well just a crazy idea, feel free to comment.

What would be good about this is that you could make it where you designate where power fields are. Thereby allowing where factories are and such. Or allow militia or mayor to grant power to a structure. So if someone places a factory where it is not supposed to be you can cut off power and it will be useless. Of course there would have to be checks and balances on the latter one, but I like this idea.
