Thread: Need Advise...exploit?

Backstory: I am the mayor of a small lvl 2 city on Talus. I am the only one in the city who can grant zoning rights, there is no militia. A house appeared smack dab in the middle of our city today. We think we know who placed the house, but they did so using an alt (probably one of those free 14 day accounts). I submitted a ticket and got the canned CSR response saying that they can't remove/destroy a house. So, what am I to do? This structure was not /transfered and the toon that placed the house was never given zoning rights.
Does anyone have any advise?

was it placed inside your radius or just outside of it?
if it was placed inside the radius then yeah we might have a bug and the zoning might not work
see if you can contact the person and ask them nicely to remove the house and either place it in your city correctly or please move it away from your city
nothing else you can do really but /bug it and hope the guy is kool and will move his house

Also by default your citys zoning rights are set to open (which meant if you did not change them....then anyone can come into the city....
But if it was placed in the city and the city needs your permission it probably a bug....and you wont be able to do anything about it....also.......if the house was in outskirts of your city when your city expanded he is in the city automatically...so that might be why as well.. but im not sure....how the house is placed

doh...well this sucks. That was indeed the case and I know that the CSRs won't do anything about it now.

The only thing you can do now is wait till there house blows up..or get ahold of the player if the house is still named under his name...or if he is still playing...if he was part of the 14 day trial...his house should be gone in a few weeks...because they did nto have much cash in there house.....if they where a full player and put 150,000$ into the house lol it will dissapear in about 6 months when there char is deleted by the game

well, here is how it shook down: CSR responded and again stated that there was nothing that they could do after checking the logs, which I replied by saying thank you for checking and I understand that this was my fault, but that the zoning setting should default the other way.
Anyways, I got a hold of the guy who placed the house...and had to bribe him to pick up the house and move it. So, he agreed to move it for 1 million credits. When he got to the city, I told him that I would give him 1/2 now and 1/2 after it was moved. So it tipped him the 500k and he picked up the house (in the meantimeI did set that damn zoning stuff). I wasn't going to, but being a man of my word I gave him the additional 500k. So then he asked where he could place the house, and I told him that we were an Imperial city and that he was not Imperial. Long story short, I agreed to interview him and ask questions and then have our council vote on citizenship. After about 3 minutes we caught him in a few lies, got him to admit that he only placed the house there to grief us and /reported him for that and for calling us, "a bunch of fags". All in all I am just glad that he is gone even know it cost me 1 million credits...live and learn I guess.

I've been placed in that situation sort of. Had to ask someone to remove their house, just to 'adjust' it's location, but in reality the guild wanted the person out of the city. So they pulled up the house, I go LD, next time they see me...well it's been so long, it's a non-issue by that point as they figure out what happened. Sometimes you have to do, what you have to do. Good thing the guy could be bribed.

It actually could not have been a "trial" account as the trial accounts can not place or even have any structures transferred to them. I tried that with a friend that was waiting on his game to come in and it gives you the message "Trial Accounts can not own player structures" or something of that sort. Glad you got it all sorted out anyhow... I know how annoying it can be to have to pay these "griefers" off. Tsk Tsk on them

yeh it gets nasty
i have seen posts with ppl demanding money to take down a Harvestor or somthing of the sort
even to the lengths they put ABUSIVE names on them to Deface your village.
shame thereis ppl out there are like that. but its something us Mayors have to learn to deal with i guess it adds depth to the role of mayor, dealing with irate charactors.

Ching, Mind sending me a PM with the guys name? I don't want to get stuck in the same spot. The zoning is locked down, but this guy sounds like a repeat offender that will find any trick he can to greif us mayors.
