Our city has bounced back and forth between rank 4 and 5 for almost a year now. Our current Mayor wishes to retire to private citizenship and I am the one running for the position now. We are fighting the dead weight of all the "ghost citizens" still on the roster from players who quit long ago, or moved to new cities but never manually revoked their citizenship in our city and all those votes defaulting to the incumbent. We are prepared for and resigned to the fact we will likely shrink down to rank 3 or even 2 once the char purge hits, but we are also looking forward to it in hopes it will finally allow us to swing the votes we need to let our old mayor retire.
But we are very confused on one point. Why are there still citizens onour city roster whose houses were abandoned and burned down or were picked up long, long ago? Some citizens who removed their houses were automatically removed from the city roster. But others have not been. We do not know what the difference in game mechanics is there, or if that is a bug?
Will the char purge remove them from the citizen roster too or just remove any remaining structures those chars still have left in the game?
Or will our city forever be infested with ghosts?

Well my fellow pol's how about we sick ourselves on Tiggs?
On every forum we all spam asking for Wipe update and details.. I'm sure if we banded togetherand make it a huge spam attempt we'd stirr enough interest. and they'd have to comment. ... then never let up until it's nerfed or confirmed.

My guess is it won't happen until after JTL comes out. They don't want people who were gone more then 6 months to come back for JTL see their stuff is gone, then leave. So they are most likely debating on how long to wait to get those people back, before it is to late for them/their stuff.

The last I heard from a dev who was in game helping me with some city decorations for an event was that they still had things to work out and it didn't sound as if it was a sure thing that was going to happen this month.
It came up when I had him check on the maintenance on some known abandoned houses of players past.

Hmm. Okay. Well, we were already resigned to the fact it might be a while, and then take perhaps several month's worth of purges to finally get rid of all the ghost houses with the staggering dates of 6 months old cancellations and all... but we're still worried about if the purges will also delete those ghost names from the citizen rosters.
We have several names still on our roster from people who we are sure cancelled theiraccounts. Their housesburned down long ago. Yet their names are still on the roster and counting against our efforts tohave this new election. We wrongly assumed declared houses that poofed would automatically remove those names from the citizenship rosters as well. Whenever the purge occurs, we hope it removes those ghost names from the list too and not justthe structures left to haunt our city.
Wehave mailed former citizens who still play but merely neglected to revoke their citizenship if they moved (darned dual citizenship bug) and a few have returned to take care of that. Guess it's time to spam mail that list again to annoy the remaining few to come back and take care of business too. (And hopefully go redeed the few houses some of them left behind and are still in the way of our city redesigning and citizen recruiting projects.) We don't even mind so much losing our city rank when all this finally does happen. We can rebuild. We just want to be able to redesign our city layout and have a true and currently active citizenship roster. Mayors being unable to kick inactives from the list like guild leaders can is just a royal pain.
I was afraid the recent invitation for old cancelled accounts to play free for 10 days prior to JtL release would postpone the character purge. As well as nullify it to some extent. The accounts being reactivated and all... resetting their 6 month life clock. *sigh*
*hopes a"grief-safe" way for Mayors to revoke citizenship is implemented someday...*
