Thread: Houses in the City Radius before City Hall is built.
What happens if I have a house built and then a Politian builds a City Hall in my area?
Do I have to move or pay a tax?
Can you have a sturcture in a city without being part of the city?

It is my understanding that you will become apart of that city.
Do I have to move or pay a tax?
I guess that will be totally up to you.
Can you have a sturcture in a city without being part of the city?
From what I have read...No you cannot own a building within the city and NOT pay taxes. Sorry for all the bad news.![]()
You have two choices: become part of the city and pay your taxes, or move out. You can own a building within a city and not bea citizen of that city, but it will still be subject to property tax. Wherever your declared residence is is where you have a citizenship, so if you dont want to be part of a city then declare your residence in a place away from a city hall. If you wanna be on the safe side, go to any city hall, and count off 450m in one direction. Between 450m away and 500m away from the city hall you can build a house without fear of ever being part of a city. (Not that I can see why you wouldnt want to be part of a city....)
ok, one last question.
Do Mayors of cities get any of the tax or is it automatically put into the city maintenance?
If the mayor gets paid, what is stopping him for putting a city hall in an opposing faction's base? just think, there are some bases out ther with 30+ houses already. If you drop a city hall in one, you could really mess with those players.
Ohh, and thanks for the quick responces.

I am interested in joining a netural city for the shuttle port benifits. At least until Wookiee's get some Dev Love.
the GCW is not the place for an un-armored Wookiee right now. Imp's get mad if I send pets on them and I can't win any 1 on 1 PvP.
I have just been reading the posts on how a city is formed and I see a potential exploit here. I am just try to find out if it is an exploit or even if it is a concern for anyone.
I believe all the money goes directly into the maintenance for the city. The mayor can not dip his hands into the cookie jar.
If you have an existing house were a city is put down you must pay taxes.
If someone runs into an area with a ton of existing housing and drops a City Hall yes he will be able to "mess" with the residence for one week. At the end of that week their will bevote and I imagine one of the existing residence would win and you just got a free City Hall.
From what I've read, the Mayor CAN withdrawl from the Tax pool but every citizen gets an email with the amount withdrawn. this for buying things for the city from Architects and possibly to help out with various maint costs for buildings other than what is covered by the city pool... like a cityfunded Cantina or hospital.
