Thread: The First State of the City Address for Maris Paradis

My fellow citizens:
This week and in the recent past we have begun embarking on the grand adventure that defines our association: building the city of Maris Paradis. Already I have made personal sacrifices, and others have made great or even greater sacrifices to make this city a reality. We look to all of you to begin the big push to our civic reality!
Work continues on developing the streets considering the unforgiving terrain of Corellia. Know that the day we incorporate officially is the day that the gaps in the streets will have houses!
With great pleasure I announce we have 28 registered homes with citizens as residents. We have another 5 placed with no resident, nine more deeds ready to go at an instant's notice, and the wherewithal to make at least thirty more. All of these homes are within the 150 m radius CorSec and the Diktat have established as our initial town area.
As your mayor, I have worked to bring in new blood to the city. Six of the new inhabitants of Maris Paradis are not MPCA members, but willing immigrants who understand the vision we have shown. We also have brought in four more residents as new MPCA members because of our city.
The streets of our city: Sharnaff, Gubbur, Vrelt, Plumed Rasp, Durni, Tabage, Gurrcat, Wrix, Gronda and others are all a homage to the land which we occupy. I ask you treat these streets with the respect we owe this great planet.
Now is the time to move the other twenty or so MPCA members into our city to establish residency! Our city will live or die based upon the actions of our citizens in the first weeks. Many cities will not make the cut and will fade away. Maris Paradis has existed for months, with you, the great citizens, supporting it unswervingly. Now is not the time to balk!
As your Mayor, I reaffirm to you the commitment to making ths city a neutral place, away from the rigors and trials of Galactic War. Though we have placed this city near the largest battle between the Rebels and the Empire, know that none is favored in this great work within our city borders.
I want to remind you that all of these houses were given freely to you, the citizens, to dwell in. This house is only your residence, however. If you aspire to a larger building, by all means place it, but always remember to maintain your residency within 150m of City Hall. The city's very survival depends on it. Keep up on your maintenance. Keep the address given to you and the other instructions passed on when you first established your residency. In a matter of weeks, if all continues with this great effort, then we will relax the zoning laws and allow people to live in a larger area of the city!
The city treasury only has 250,000 credits in it at this time, being the essential balance of the Mayor's account. All will be deposited in the town treasury, but we have quickly established that taxes alone cannot pay for the city. We will depend on each of you to match the 5k levy paid by your City Council and others, and to consider larger gifts to the city treasury.
The City thanks its largest supporters, Bosephus, the City Planner, Toma, the Housing Commissioner, and all of those who have held onto city property in the interests of the whole. Together, we shall prevail, we shall flourish, we shall become great.
