I saw this on the changes happening on TC..and before anyone shots off, I know it is TC...so Im not "freaking out"...jsut posting to get thoughts and feed back going here about it....
PlayerStructures
- All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.
This means that even if the player only put 100K in that medium house byyour City hall and then left the game...itll still be there..using money out of his bank account..and then becoming condemned..not buring down....never going away...jacking up taxes to burn housing down wont work anymore...you will take all the moeny out of their bank account tho.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel abou this myslef..part of me likes the idea, and part of me is worried that if it had been in game say...6 months ago, I never would have been able to reorganize my city.....

I saw another thread on this too... it sucks. It's just another example of how SOE is willing to screw over they players who actually play, in order to appeal to new players that "might" come back, & to make it seem like there are more peoplearound to the noobs.
This means there will be no way for anyone to ever build new cities, because the old abandoned ones will never go away now. I'm sorry, but this could have been done much better. They could have made it so that the houses & allthe contents automatically went into the owners inventory... & just make it so the inventory limit is large enough to hold it all. For that matter they could make it so when a house redeeds, it keeps all the contents inside the house, so that when placed again later all the stuff would be right where you left it... this would be a great feature for live players that just want torelocate their houses too.
I'm getting a little tired of the deceptive tactics to attract new customers at the expense of those who are already here. It doesn't have to be this way... there are plenty of things that could be done to enhance the game for existing players that will result in attracting the new & returning players also.
Instead of clogging the servers with abandoned houses to make them appear well populated, why not create player housing for the NPC cities using instanced apartments/condos whose floorplans could be crafted by architects& provided in limitless supply to all the players who want them? How about giving those players who do want to build their own cities more options such as the ability to landscape, build roads, fences, & walls, or plant trees, etc.
There needs to be more balance... right now the NPC cities are dead because player cities have been the only comparable alternative. but as the servers get clogged with condemned houses that never go away, where will the loyal players have left to go? All the good spots will be taken up by people who have abandoned the game.
