PlayerStructures
- All maintenance fees will automatically attempt to deduct from Bank accounts after the maintenance pool has been depleted. Once a structure reaches 0 hitpoints, it will flag itself as condemned instead of deleting itself. Condemned houses are not enterable, and all other structures are not usable. To uncondemn a house, simply enter it with enough money in the bank to pay the repair cost. To uncondemn all other structures, use them with enough money in the bank to pay the costs.
THIS IS 100% WRONG
The problem of inactive players in our cities is one that is HUGE. Their houses and factories are in the city taking up room. With Mayors being powerless to evict or force people to move out all we can hope for is that the houses will soon decay and burn down. Now with this new feature the houses will be there for... EVER?????? This is an outrage to politicians and there cities. Sometimes people leave the game for reasons that force them to go suddenly. What are we to do now? If we ever try to move stuff around in the city (which I have tried many times to do) we have to build around there houses and factories. If you have multiple inactive citizens you are screwed.
Either do not put this feature in or redo the politician's powers to give him the right over kicking people and structures out of the city.
Can any devs or correspondents give some insight here please.

Iolas, I agree 110% with you on this. As it sits, revamping Alacio Island would be 90% impossible. You will basically be killing this profession when this goes live.

This is an absolute no no no, if this goes live it will be bloody hell for most cities. We already have a problem with people quitting and leaving their houses on our main shopping street - now they never going to collapse? Please tell me thats a joke, mayors unite against this horrible idea!

I strongly support Iolas on this. The change is a well intentioned one on the part of SOE, but one that wasn't thoroughly thought through. Between grief structures, inactive players, and inability to get citizens to move buildings that are in the way of city changes, this is going to be a great problem.
I would suggest that SOE allow buildings to decay, dissapear, but place all objects in those buildgins into a temp holding "area" for 60-90 days. The owner of those objects could reclaim them within that time period... go to a major city and talk to the "lost and found" guy or something, which would act like a bank. They could retrive the items and move them to other storage within that time period, but after which the items would be deleted. In that way this feature could not be abused. Also, no new items could be stored in the Lost and Found directly by the player.
I would also call for giving the mayor rights to condemn buildings, forcing people to move. The mechanism could be constructed in such a way that the user gets a 30 day warning to move, then a 15 day warning, then a 5 day warning, giving him/her ample time to move. The mayor would then be able to "destroy" the building in question and anything inside that structure would go to the lost and found for retrieval by the individual.

We should just use the one thread.
Pappi has a tough enough job without having to go through two threads in the same board
