Thread: I know everyone's feathers are ruffled right now, so please have patience with me...

I read through the FAQ and guide, but I'm a little mixed up on whether or not certain structures take up lots. Can I as a mayor place additional houses, pa halls, or harvesters without taking up a lot, or does it?

Thanks in advance, and to those who are worried about the test cell changes, Tyrant stated in the Customer Service thread that the purge will occur within "a couple of months", and that accounts inactive for 6 months will have their housing rolled up. Hope that's at least some comfort

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

only city owned structures do not take lots....city hall, shuttleport, garage...gardens...housing that uses lots as a non-mayor will still take lots as a mayor.

The automatic character purge is not active yet. It is scheduled to go on test "in the next few months" and even if it will be implemented it would still only purge houses of players after six months - which is far too long anyway - and it won't affect houses of players that switched the galaxy or reactivate their accounts from time to time - or playing other Sony Online games using the station pass which will include SWG from next month on!

I understand, my point was to simply state that there is a remedy that is planned. Also, it was stated that this was a preliminary thing. In other words, it's a protective measure more intended for players who wish to continue playing. I'd also like to say that were this in place about a year ago, then I wouldn't have changed servers. I played on one and lost a ton of stuff when I was away a lot longer than I was supposed to be. Sometimes real life keeps people away from the game while they continue to pay their subscripion fees.

Plus I think you guys are forgetting one trump card to play in all this. I may be wrong, but it's a possibility. If you were to jack up taxes on your city, then pay back the active players, you would deplete the bank account of the inactive player while not exactly hurting your other citizens. If I'm wrong, sorry, but I would really like to find a way for you guys to work around the change.

While most would disagree with me because its a tax, some of us feel that doing that to take the money in their account is stealing....I know I am the minority in that thought, but I hardly consider it a trump card.

The purge was planned to be ran last October. You place too much faith in their schedules. Priorities change in the development world

And hiking taxes is not the answer, people have millions and you just cannot place them that high. And when you have a large metro paying otehrs back when you can only withdraw 50k a day will take a long time

I agree jacking up the taxes would runa fine line on stealing Anika, but it can also be looked at as a penalty for not keeping with your commitment. Kind of like the way homeowners associations can be a pain in real life.

As for the overall concept, I agree that with a large city it would be impossible with the 50k cap... So I guess there will have to be another work around.

I concur... but if you look at the rest of their timelines, they run around 6 months behind... which would put the purge in a couple months anyway.

Homes Associations have to be filed before the land is sold to the first buyers from the development company creating the HA. Not doing so requires all the owners to sign off on it...thus all the owners know about the fees..and HA dues aren't going to take your land if you don't pay....raising taxes after they are gone isnt giving them notice....

The tax is more like the State/County/City taxes we pay....thing is tho, at least were I live, we get 3 years of overdue taxes before the county can try to take the land by tax sale....and if your County Executive jacked up taxes really high....I think you would complain like everyone else. ..especially if he was skimming the top and paying his friends....that's what we call a corrupt government.
