This had better not be an evil joke.
I'm actually hoping it is.
Let's all rejoice now that our Profession will be something absolutely anyone can do! Rather than give Politicians content that the sorely need, the devs have chosen the easy route and took away the cost. Since it doesn't cost anything to be a Politician, why should they get any kind of attention or fixes?
It just seems like they see Player Cities as nothing more than a money sink. If it doesn't cost you anything to train, everyone and their brother, sister, mother, father, second-cousin-twice-removed can havea city of their very own. That's *not* a good thing.
The skill point system forces characters to make choices about what they want to do, and results in professions that have players that actively care about their skill set. Having the entire profession cost-free will mean that an influx of characters that just want another Master line in their bio will be taking away XP from dedicated politicians at the least, and opening the door for hostile takeovers of established cities at worst.
I think that at a minimum there should be a gateway to the profession, like a very high Apprentice XP cost, or a 5-15 point skill point cost for the Novice Politician box only.

I'm all for getting some combat skills back that I dropped to level Politician, but zero skill points for the tree is a bad idea, IMHO.

Exactly, a lot of cities will be griefed now
I think it should be more..
To another point since we are given something for nothing the devs have no incentive to help us

Hey guys. Well, this is only my first month of being a politician. This is my first peek into the profession forums, shame on me. I do have to say i'm worried about these changes. I know I lack experience, but something about ANYONE being able to master politician without some type of effort is not good. I take my position seriously, very seriously and for anyone to be able to just train the skills makes me upset. I forsee tons of cities poping up, which I dont see as good. Will we be able to maintain the citizenship in larger cities when there will be TONS of other cities to maintain?
And as far as the housing goes, would it be that bad to give mayors the power to remove structures but just do it fairly? I think a mayor should be able to condem, the player get notification and time to respond, say a month, and depending on if the player shows up or not, what happens happens. Fact is, people quit the game, and for various reasons. Not everyone takes the time to inform the people they should. But if you decide to joing a city, you have an obligation to that city.
Like I said, I'm new at this and I really welcome everyones opinions. i'm excited about being a mayor and having the opportunity to make my city great. My goal is to make the game more enjoyable for them and this added challenge is making it more enjoyable for me.
