last week in politics

um, so I've slacked off slightly in my mayor duties due to schoolstuff, but I do have some politician stuff:

thanks to those who PMed me information on bugs or exploits, I've forwarded them to Tiggs or the correspondent forum. I'll let you guys know if anything pops up. this includes the new streetlamp, which I've reported under "publish 12 bugs".

I'm hoping to grab their attention on broken sales tax again soon, since I haven't heard anything about it lately. the top 5 will be submitted (with a bit of explanation) some time in the near future.

um, that's it for now, how are your cities?

Solace, Dantooine (Gorath)

Wow, i do believe after almost a year of me being a Poli this is the first time i'm actually filling everyone in on how Solace currently is Always just get so caught up in other things either irl or ig. Imagine that!

Solace is still a thriving imperial city currently home to 111 citizens. Due to the FS grind we've had to vote my alt into office finally.. which i am happy to say she just got voted in this morning. Now to just get her back to where Chas was, which was Master Within the next week or two I'll be starting a revamp on the west side of the city to allow room for more growth.. currently the west side is quite out of order unfortunately since i dedicated alot of time to getting the "main" area of the city done. We're looking at doing some sort of event in the near future for all to attend, which will be tons of fun i'm sure. Just need to get the city issues squared away before planning a huge event.

I have the greatest group of citizens that keep our city alive. With that i must thank Dark Forces, Dark Praetorian Order and Moted for their continued support in Solace. They make Solace what it is.. i could never do it without all the support from them.

I believe that is about it

River City, Rori (Lowca)

River City of Rori is a up and coming new city home to the River City Ramblers. The home of RCR has for until recently has always been just north of theed on naboo. RCR has been around since the start of the game and has been in the magazine PC Gamer. anyway, River city on naboo was always just a clump of houses and a PA hall, we always had wanted to make a city but before no one was willing to be a mayor, so later on when we did, all the city spots were full. so RCR moved to Rori and started a real River City. We have quickly grown, and are now at 30 citizens, just 5 from level 3 township, we cant wait to get all the perks of being a township, but we are having a hard time with rori being so damn hilly,it makes it impossible to have streets, and will make it hard to find places large enough for all the civic buildings that we will have. but i think we'll find a way. thats about it for now

It seems that the mayor of Mercadia is MIA. He said that he was going to leave the game and might be back in 6 weeks or longer. That was about mid November.

I just got back into the game after some time off and was fortunate enough to find some of my old PA friends still on Valcyn. They told me that they need a new mayor. Since I had 6000 XP in Politican from my days as mayor of Syn City, I agreed to run for mayor and take over the city. I just got the profession again and hopes to run the city.

Wish me luck

Serenity Valley, Tatooine: Intrepid

Our Rank 4 - Let's Save the Shuttleport! crisis held at bay for now, we've relaxed back into our regular community activities of running a Commerce-oriented city. Recruiting more new citizens to offset the lingering ghosts and the normal attrition rate is still a high priority though.

We upgraded (again) to Research Center now that we have several more crafters that need and desire that spec. As more ghost houses finally burn down we have also been rearranging the layout of the city. We are working hard to make the city layout citizen and visitor friendly, with all services and civic structuresin two town squares within 200 meters of the shuttleport. Wide boulevards for Merchant's Row and neighborhood enclaves with their own parks of gardens and fountains. Our desire is to have a town that looks and works as a true active community. Things are really starting to look more like a thriving community rather than a sprawling ruin of abandoned homes and rows of storage buildings. (Hologrinders neglect really hit our city hard)

Most of our citizens spend the majority of their time actually in town, crafting, running their shops, helping each other out, chatting at the cantina or in the town square. There's almost always a few people in town and "on call" for various acitivites. Many ofthe craftersdouble up as on call entertainers or medicsfor healing up our combat citizens as well, so even our wanderers come home regularly. We have three museums and are close to the Squill Caves so we also do a lot of meet and greet with people that are visiting and passing through. We are not a ghost town.

And here I have to give a Bravo! to Josslynn/Destinee of Solace, Dantooine: Gorath. /ovation

I have a char on Gorath and visited Solace the other day. That is a very beautiful city. Huge, well laid out, despite the terrain or perhaps because of it. Very creative use of uneven terrain for city areas. And you simply cannot miss the fact it is an Imperial city with all those bases, Stormtroopers and AT-STs running around! (I was so glad I had gone there on my neutral char and not with my Rebel! Yikes!). But one thing that impressed me very much was her creative use of gardens and fountains. She combined the arrangementsto create "new" larger gardens and they are gorgeous! One three fountain combo so blew me away that I stole the idea and logged onto my Mayor char, wrote our guild architect a mail, ordered the fountains, and soon as I got them, set up the same fountain trio at the top of our Merchant Row. We have gotten lots of compliments from visitors about that fountain.

So thank you Destinee! I stole your idea!

Arissia, Dantooine (Wanderhome)

Our city is continuing to grow, even with the deterioration caused by the ghost citizens. We're even seeing an influx of players entirely new to the game, pretty impressive considering the exodus to WoW. Some of those on the front end of that exodus are returning to us. It appears that WoW is wearing itself out very quickly.

It seems our biggest problem is acquiring and maintaining a solid corps of good craftsmen. We currently have a BE/Chef that isn't going anyplace in the near future, and a good weaponsmith. We've had armorsmiths and architects but they have either left the game or given up crafting in favor of a combat profession. I myself have taken on merchant to attempt to alleviate the pressures on the crafters...

We still have lots of room for new residents, and we have changed our city specialization to research center to aid the crafters. Blade and Ja'wa (the two guilds that live within the city) are generally helpful in acquiring those hard to find components required to make those high end items.

I still have not been forced to levy taxes on the citizenry. We can do this because once a week, we gather roughly 12-18 people into a single hunting group. All of the members in the group get 27K credit mokk and janta missions, and the group goes to each mission (generally in the same direction) so each person collects their piece of that payout. After all missionshave been exhausted, each member has roughly 50K credits that they contribute to the citytreasury. Wewent from barely being able to pay the maintenance each week (because my alt was footing the whole bill), to having roughly 4M creds in the treasury. Most times we run and additional round or two of these missions and the participants get to keep the earnings. Thissomewhat helps alleviate the solo group nerf. This does not; however, lend itself to XPing.

In other news Saturday, Jan 15 2005, we had an online wedding of two ofour city members-- Please congratulate Reck andTi'an if you see them running around the server.

All in all the city is healthy and thriving. We're located in the Arissi Plains on Dantooine, 2000mwest ofthe Mining Outpost. I'm still looking for the ability to assign a deputy mayor...

Respectfully,

Daphne Aris

Voter turnout continues to slowly improve from election to election. Our citizen ranks are a stable 74. We lose and gain at about the same rate.

Our most active citizens aren't in the city very much anymore, they are in space. In my update email to the citizens I have encouraged those with JtL to get in on the action. Our city's website is very active and really is the place to look for upcoming events and planning, but I don't think that the citizens are taking the most advantage of it. People are in different time zones, are playing games other than SWG - the website really helps us coordinate, and I'm trying to encourage other citizens to utlize it.

I am also going to start a citizen census of sorts so that we can figure out who is still active in the city and the game, and who is not. I have also been requested to report on the amount of trainers and decorations we have, so that the City Council can decide if there's any ways we can cut cost.

Gaia, Talus, Chimaera

Last week unfortunately we have lost our rank 5, after the max of 103 citizens we have see a lower coming of newbie and slowly the number begin to coming down. Now we are stabilized around 80 citizens, i'm not sure if we would regain the rank of metropolis, why except for the name a metropolis don't give a really advantage (it's only more expensive).

Two minister of our city counsil have resigned, we have made a CU (Counsil Upgrade ) and now we have a team of 4 citizens dedicated to the organization of live events, tournaments, contest, jtl team, and many more...after the real CU we will organize a 30 milion first price pvp tournament.

For the commerce i can say the thing are pretty good, even if we are on Talus we are a good POI for find a little of all.
