Today's patch notes tell us that the update bug has been fixed. Let's play and see if it is true.

I agree they need to grant those of us who have failed to have the bonus of double or triple updates to get this bonus as well.

Well this would be awesome. But will it get my voting back on track? It was a really stupid idea for them to use a 7 day timer for this. Who's moron idea was that? Just make a record of the day and time the city was founded, and have it happen at that exact time every week, once a week. What's the problem?

Instead we get this lame timer that apparently doesn't run when the servers are rebooting and doesn't run while the city is waiting for the update to actually happen (hence my delay).

Don't they know that a running timer is a dain on system resources? It would have been better if they just made a blanket process that runs every night at midnight, checking for which cities will update/vote that day and preparing it then.

Ok this is just ridiculous! Since the first week of cities, our vote has taken a long time to process. At first it was like 10-12 hours, which, while annoying, was a dream compared to now.

Our city was founded on the Sunday after CLD (City Live Date). As of last week, our election had moved all the way to Thursday. I know we're not the only one experiencing this float, but this is extreme...

Last week's vote didn't take place until TUESDAY THIS WEEK! So that was FIVE days in ERROR status.

Now I'm 9 days behind on XP.

This is not the same problem many are having where the vote happens and they don't get XP. This is the problem where the vote doesn't even happen. I filed a ticket and what did they say? "You have to wait until your next vote is scheduled to see if it eventually happens."

Why can't they just change it so the stupid time doesn't reset to 7 days after the vote?? Just track the founding day for goodness sake!! Every Sunday give me the XP. What's with this stupid 7 day timer that's all whacked?

As if I should have expected something different, here's the reply I got back from SOE support on this topic:

I am very sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with your city. When the update cycles happen they time they are running the cycle ( 2-10 hours at time) is not counted as part of the 7 day update, so each time an update happens it will get slowing pushed back a bit each week. There has also been a few issues that caused cities to not update for a short time. These issues have been fixed , but we will be unable to offer any lost updates back. I am sorry for any trouble this may have caused you.

So not only are they saying they don't give a rat's arse about this problem, they won't bother trying to make ammends for it either.

Our City, Wakiza, was one of the Player Cities that received a couple of unexpected updates during the course of one week.

The advantage was that I ended up getting double the amount of politician xp.

The disadvantage was that we ended up getting charged for City maintenance twice during the week as well. We are a Rank 4 City so it did hurt our funds.

Both a good and bad came out of that bug, so don't fret if you weren't affected at all.
