Politician Archive
Thread: Where is a stickied thread(s) with information we need?
There are like six threads on the front page about
City Caps
Taxes
And here we are discussing "top five" stuff. We need to sticky up a faq, and if we can't make a faq, then we need to sticky up:
What the city caps are, and what the consequences are.
How taxes and militia work.
Simple information for hologrinding Politicians.

Whew, bad grammar on the thred title, sorry. ![]()
But anyways, we have a moderator in here, he should start moderating!

There's no simple way to grind Politician. Actually, I don't think anyone will ever get Politican as a holo profession. Someone in my guild mentioned that someone got it and a CSR told them that was a glitch and they shouldn't have gotten Politician from a holo.
Politician is much like Merchant, it can't be grinded. Your XP is not under your control, but under that of others.
I know someone who is grinding politician as we speak.
And yes, it is the only profession that MUST be grinded, as there is no gameplay mechanism for it's increase other than votes.
But the issue (several sections of my post up top got deleted somehow) is bigger:
We need sticky threads about city caps
Progress of the top-five thread
Progress of the faq, and a note warning people away from the existing and out of date faq.
List of known and annoying bugs.

I'm trying to pull together a Taxes FAQ now to present to Bajeezus. Take a look at that thread and see if there is anything you can contribute, even if it is just more/better questions.
Militia is a bit up in the air now, this might be a bad time to embark on a FAQ for it as it may become outdated in a few weeks time.
City Caps are fairly well explained in a couple of locations (including the holocron I believe), but perhaps our correspondant would see fit to integrating that info into the FAQ at some point after the top 5 issues have been compiled and presented to the devs, per developer request. These are due by tomorrow which is why there is a big push for these to get completed.
As for Holo-Politicians there is simply no way to grind Politician due to the structure of the way we gain experience. The fastest possible way is to (somehow) take control of a very large established player city and get your XP in large chunks. The probability of doing that is next to nil though. Alternate means of collecting Politician XP are being bandied about now though, so you may want to contribute - if you have not already done so - to the #1 issue thread and see what you can contribute.

I will cityban the person who told me it was not. As for hologrinder politicians. I dunno how many cities would turn themselves over for 6 weeks+ to a hologrinder, even inside a guilded city. There are very few in my guild that my city would allow to be mayor for that long. I would never let a hologrinder take the reigns of our city, it would be chaos.

This is way off topic, but I contribute at least 10 or more votes a week to other politicians all the time.
I think it's poor game design to only have a profession locked down (as it is) by a few elitists.
So I have offered my votes as a way to share what is essentially a developer forced dictatorship.
But back on topic. This information needs to be available. People don't come to this forum to see people nattering about top-five issues, they come here for information, which is sadly lacking here.

My apologies for jumping in. I just have a problem with hologrinding. Blame SOE I guess.
We agree on that completely.

Getting politician as a profession from a holocron is supposed to be a bug. Supposedly you can contact a CSR and they can change it for you.
That is what I was told by someone in my guild. As far as I know, nobody in my city has gotten a holo for Politician yet. I'd have no problem sharing some xp once I reach master. But letting the hologrinding run the city would be out of the question. Our city is not a dictatorship, we just want a mayor who cares about the city instead of the next profession he will be grinding...

Well, that is definitely not common knowledge, and it belongs in a sticky thread up top (Sorry, not meaning to jump on people, just trying to wrest us back on topic).

I am not impressed with this attitude.
