Really depends on your city goals..

One thing I have seen tried and that worked fairly well is tax refunds for continously stocking your vendor. Good vendors will generate word of mouth for your town, and a vendor that is always well stocked is going to keep them coming back. The more they are in your town the longer they have to fall in love with the atmosphere / layout / location / people / ect....

My city is on Dantooine also, so I do know how rough it can be to get more citizens. Currently my city has 92 citizens so we are doing fairly well. Dantooine isn't as remote as Lok or Talus is for it has some very interesting features.

1) Tourism is a big step in the right direction. Hopefully your city is near a POI of some sort. My city is close to the crystal caves and the abandoned rebel base, two POIs that many people use. Having a POI near your city will not only bring money to your city but others that will be interested in living there.

2) A good way to gain citizens is asking PAs to join your city. That is probably the best and fastest way of gaining new citizens. A good incentive for PAs is the idea of a city council where 2 reps of each PA have a say in all city business. This is probably the best way to gain citizens and a new way to make great friends and allies.

3) Have a nice city layout. People love when cities are beautiful and do not like it if you allow your citizens to place where ever you want. Organization of a city is key for successful development.

4) Low taxes is a must if you want to gain new citizens. Hopefully you have a few citizens that can pay a big chunk of the maitenance so taxes will be low for population increase. The lower the taxes, the better

5) Post on your server forum about your city and say some interesting facts about it. Also holding events in your city is also a good thing. Having a website and a city map is also a good thing for a proper city.

I hope your city does well and good luck

Howdy Tac.

Im also on Wanderhome server but our city is in the heart of Naboo where we established ourselves in the first few weeks after the game came out.

I think Jaron really has given the best advice so far. Tourism....Is there anything near your city that would make people want to move there??? Im notneccesarily meaning a POI either.....There are other things that can gain peoples interest. Are there any permanent respawns of things? Are you in a spot that consistantly has alot of high % resource shifts week after weekthat arent well known about? Find what you have and Advertise it.Create your own niche for your city.

Also, what is the closest shuttleport to y'all? If it is only 5-8mins away then it shouldnt be a problem getting people to your city as you try to grow to get your own shuttle.

If you are reeeeelllllyyyyyyy far away from a shuttle port then I doubt the promotion of vendors are going to get people to visit unless you have some extremely well made items or if the pricing is very cheap. However, I doubt your crafters would be thrilled to sell stuff cheap.

I have no idea about what your cities goals orwhat you do as a groupare but I see many folks who are looking for a city to join and an important thing to them is consistant Hunts and Group events.

Try to see if you can get a small PA to join up with ya...This is alot harder to do then to say....Most are happy to be on there own.

Unforetunately thereare no silver bullets to help you....I would just encourage your citizens to spread the word around in conversations but DO NOT sit in Coronet ect... spamming to join your city.... I doubt many people would even respond to a /yell like that.

Best of Luck....

Cities with people always get more people, for instance if your city has 45 citizens and you really want 55 to get that shuttle well get your citizens to live in your city and not just declare residence. I have had multiple people move into my city just because they liked the fact it wasn't a ghost town.

I am part of an imperial player city on wanderhome that was started the very first day that player cities went live. We are in a great, but remote part of dantooine, and have only grown to village status, where we have been for over a month now.

I'm looking for ideas to make our city more desirable to new players and other small guilds that are looking for a place to move.

Some ideas that I was considering (please give me any feedback you may have):

  1. Public harvester banksthatresidents could operate without using thier own lots

  2. Weekly or monthly lottery that comes out of tax funds.

Of course, standard fare for cities these days is a free small house, which we have already been doing.

Any other waysthat youcould shareto makecities attractive to new residents?

Vicimus is successful for various reasons that we hear from people when they come to us and ask to move in:

1. Well laid out city with zones for housing, business, and industrial all based around a cross hairs on a city square. http://www.nullzero.com/swgdata/Vicimus010604.jpgyes, it has become a bit messy, but that happens with 103 residents

2. Supporting members of the community. We do what we can to discount people who live in the city on purchases of whatever our crafters make. We help with resources, equipment, armor, weapons, anything they need. This comes in line with one of our few requirements to live in the city. Contribute. Not money, but anything tangable you can. Help your neighbor and he will help you.

3. Friendly. When a neutral comes into town we don't jump all over them accusing them of being Rebel. We greet people who come to the town and help them with whatever they need. Many come back again and again, even the covert Rebels.

4. A sense of community. We encourage people who live in the city to join one of our guilds or, if they want to remain guildless, to at least join us on hunts which we schedule at least twice weekly.

5. Information. People know what is going on. On the VVV website, we host forums for the city that all citizens have access to. People's opinions are listened to, and people are never surprised by changes.

We have gotten to a point where we get daily requests or interest from people to join our city. We receive 100s of visitors a day and have propsered because of our treatment of guests, guildmates and citizens.

P.S. We don't offer free houses to get people to want to move in
