I think I know what the answer is already but I'm just curious if anyone has tried this before and what happened if they managed to win elections in two towns?

NO, you cannot be mayor of two cities.
To run for mayor you must be a citizen of a city. If you are not a citizen, you cannot run for mayor, hence, since you cannot be citizen of two cities at one time, you cannot be mayor of two cities.
the mayor is always a citizen of the city they preside over till they are no longer mayor.
