Thread: Dropping citizenship

A few months ago, I left a city and declared my residence in a "rural" area that was not in the city limits of any town. I still receive city e-mails (which is fine), but does this mean I'm still considered a resident? I get voting updates, etc. This could have some meaningful implications if you just get someone to declare in the city for a week and start voting then thay can move wherever they want and continue being a resident. Also, could it mean that if I want to join a new city, I have to somehow drop my citizenship from the first one?

Thanks,

I was wondering about this as well. I am a new mayor, and one of the citizens shown on the city management terminal says she does not live in the city. She said she pulled up her house 3 months ago and left. Why would she still be shown as a citizen? Is this a bug? Does she have to come to city hall and revoke citizenship, or declare citizenship in another town for it to change?

I know for sure that one citizen of our town left quite a few months ago. She was acitizen of another city on the SAME planet in another city and was receiving emails from ours.

She recently wanted to move back and did. Before she placed her house in our city, I had already noticed she was listed in the citizen report on the City Managment Terminal.

Unfortunately, it seems you must go back to the City Management Terminal and revoke your citizenship to be dropped from the list.

I noticed this before the 6 weeks rule was implemented - citizens that had destroyed their houses in our city and had declared in another city (same or different planet) where still listed on our citizen list (I can just guess, that they also had to pay income tax - maybe even property).

These players where deleted from the list once the 6 week rule was implemented (for those that oversaw it - citizens that haven't logged in for 6 weeks would lose citizenship - effectivly reducing the size of ghost towns created through cross server trades - giving room for "active" cities to rise in rank) ...

Only I've heard this 6 weeks rule was revoked (is that true) and even if not - probably citizens will now still have to wait 6 weeks for the server to check if they are citizens to said city.
