I had an idea that SOE should put a tax on all vendor transactions that occur outside
Non Player Cities. I think this would boost player city growth and the economy on all planets. Plus it would relieve lag on alot of non player cities. in the real world everyone pays taxes and this is part of the backbone of our economy i think people that dont live in player run cities should pay steep taxes 20% to 30% on every transaction. It would make it more of a privilege to live in a player city instead of camping a 1000m outside of theeds or coronet and not paying anything at all.

personally I don't think it's fair. why should someone be forced into a player city? there are already benefits to joining a player city (city specialization, boost of traffic), and player cities are meant to be communities, not just another "place for people to go."
I don't think the merchants would like this idea much either

I'm quite sure most merchants wouldn't be happy with 20% taxes outside a player city. While I do wish the benefits of selling merchandise in a player city were more obvious I agree that at root player cities are meant to be communities where you establish yourself there for the purpose of building something with your fellow players. The benefit for merchants is a steady stream of regular customers who pass by every day and are likely to stop at your shop before travellnig across the galaxy to stop at other stores.

I'm not sure by what you mean "vendor transactions that occur outside Non Player Cities"
Are you refering to things placed in bazaars in Static cities like Theed or Coronet ?
As a mayor of a city of 70 citizens, I think the only way one should join a city is "freely" and "voluntarily" and because one wants to join your city - not becausesome tax is forcing them.
There are many good reasons but the biggest reason is community and friendships. From that, you can organize PA's, hunts etc...
As for taxes, that's also relative to the size of a city, it's population and what a city offers to its citizens. A city of 15 citizens with no mission terminals, trainers and few structures don't need as much revenue as a city of 75 citizens, 12 trainers, 4 mission termials a faction mission terminal, a medical center, clone center, shuttleport....etc...etc....etc..
A player should have the freedom to roam or to join a player city. What's the real purpose you propose such a tax ?
