I apologize if this is in the FAQ but I couldn't find it.................
I need to temporarily turn over my player city to one of my residents for reasons not important to this discussion. This other resident has registered to run and I have sent out an email urging all of my residents to vote for this new "Challenger". Now I have 60 total residents at this point...............so does the challenger need to receive 31 votes to unseat me as Mayor? My concern here is that I have some residents that are taking "breaks" from the game for various reasons and I may not be able to get this many actual votes for the person that I need to turn things over to.
If this is the case, and there is no way to turn over the Mayoral role to this other person through the voting process, how else can this be done?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

If no one else is running... their default vote for themself wins it. Nothing else required.

would this mean that technically someone could run against you at the last 5 minutes before the elections are over and then you lose 1 - 0?
boy that wouldn't be cool :/

Two weeks of open nominations, then one week taht is just voting.
But...
If someone registers in that last five minutes of the second week. You betcha!

No, I forget the exact time frame, but no one new can run past the last week of voting.

That's why you'd better register as soon as possible when you are reelected

you would think an easy fix for this, would be to allow the current mayor to enter the election in that last week. Great info! thanks for posting.
