Im fairly new to politician but have been playing swg for a while now. I just attempted to start a city last week and much to my dismay the city hall vanished after the 24 hour window. I wasnt able to locate additional details on this but this is what I have done so far:

13 Citizens declared and ready to go

placed city hall

dumped in 100k of maintnance

got 1 email of new citizen (this guy was online when i placed the hall)

got 13 emails of new structures within city limits

city mgmt terminal listed 2 citizens, myself and the guy mentioned above

freaked out! some of my guys are on LOA temporarily

went on recruiting kick for 4 hours and brought in 4 more people (not many, my personal best was 30 new recruits in under a month in my last town)

I suppose my question is... Why did it poof and why did it not count all those citizens? Do they need to declare within 24 hours after placing the hall?

Placing a structure (house) in to a city does not make you a citizen. Each person much "Declare Citizenship" in thier house. Since you only got one message saying so you, in effect, only had one citizen since the mayor doesn't count as an actual citizen for this purpose.

When I help a new person move in to our city I stand there and wait until I get an email that they have declared. If not, then they will live in the city limits without actually being a citizen!

I hope this helps. If you have more questions feel free to ask here or at [email protected]

Added: I think I forgot to mention that you need to have 10 citizens (not including the mayor) to "Declare Citizenship" in thier house at the Structure Terminal within 24 hours or the city will go poof. (KB article 6384)

Not really. i already know what declaring means. As i said prior, i had 13 citizens declared and ready to go, then i placed the hall. My question is: Did I do this out of order? Should i have placed the hall then made everyone declare or should they have counted if they were declared before I placed the hall?

It was out of order. They would need to declare residence after the City Hall was placed. If they declared prior to that, the resident would need to reenter their house in order for the citizenship to register.

I also read that they dont actually have to declare if they were declared before the hall was placed, all they have to do is go inside their house after the hall is placed. We tested this (Took us 3 city halls to get it right, so count yourself lucky, lol) and it did seem to be accurate. Some of the people that were already declared, got the "You have already declared this house as your residence." when they tried to redeclare the house. A little bit later the mayor got the email. Then some of the other peeps did have to redeclare the house and got the "You have changed your residence to this house." even though they already had the house declared.

LOL, just had to share that spectacle cause it was quite funny, 3 city halls!!!

Ahh thank you guys, that was very helpful. We are planning a guild hunting party for this weekend then to try and get everyone logged in at once. Gonna kill some krayts! Also have rented a race track and a few lambda shuttles to set up in town for deco. Should be a fun day hopefully and hope everyone can make it! This city hall is very heavy to carry around with me everywhere i go... my precious...

Happened to me as well, started the city almost a week ago, had people declared, but they didn't show up on the city hall terminal, so quickly had to shout around DECLARE PLS and it seemed that when they clicked declare (even if it told them you have to wait xx hours) it updated, and I got my mail

Now the city is running fine, will update to Rank 2 at the coming city update

WOOT!! Thanks again guys, I placed the on this past Saturday and was able to get 10 of the citizens to declare that day. Should be smooth sailing from here! Now to start recruiting! The events went really well and the lamda shuttles looked great! There are still 5 others that have yet to declare though but at this point, im not really worried about that. I got the email on Sunday from the Planetary Civic Authority approving my application for a new city.
