Thread: Newbie Politician here with some questions.
Guild Leadership - from what I understand the guild leadership election needs to be triggered by someone with the necessary rights on the terminal (normally the leader or other high-ranking members). If the leader does not log on for 30 days this election process is supposed to start automatically. You may get more detail if you ask the question in the PA forum though.
The existing mayor needs votes just like someone running against them. If nobody runs against him/her, his/her single vote will put them in office again. A mayor who doesn't watch the ballots can find themselves without a home. If you plan on running for mayor, you should notify everyone in the city somehow and share your ideas.... that way you can get the votes instead of people not voting at all...each vote counts for leveling a mayor... even those from people you don't like...

Thanks for the help. The reason I asked was because last election someone tried to usurp our town by running for mayor while our current mayor was away. Because said mayor did not register to run (obviously),we could not vote for him and by the time anyone realised there was someone else running, we were too late and no one could register to run against this person (who had three votes at the time).
We had horrified visions of our treasury being drained dry, our city hall being snatched from right under our nose, our taxes shooting through the roof, and our city generally falling to shambles. Yet, by some small miracle, our current mayor won by default. Was this because a bunch of us abstained from the vote?

Wow, that's a crappy situation. Something like that would most definately suck. Sorry you guys went through that, but glad it worked out. Not sure about how he won though. I'm sure one of our more experienced mayors could answer that for ya.
