He should be able to pick someones house if he want to. My mayor has had the problem of faction jumpers that desided to give zoning rights to a real jack a$$ that put a house in the middle of our plaza, basicly ruining our city.

Also there is people thats been inactive for months that have really good spots in the town that active people want, or if the mayor desides to place some tents at a place near the centrum of the city put it's occupied by a large house of someone thats havnt been on for a long time.

When he pick the house up it should be placed in the owners data pad to prevent grefing by deleting the house or something like that.

What do you people think of that?

Zoning rights have to be granted. If you want people to place their houses in a specific place then tell them where to put them and watch them while they do it - that tends to work for me.

In terms of your idea - would never work. Can you imagine a new mayor getting in who had some sort of a grievance with people - maybe those who didn't vote for him/her and packing up their houses.....

An option.. again, this could just be an option... Is grant no zoning rights to anyone. If someone wants to move in to the city they will have to give the structure to the mayor and the mayor will place the structure down. Then click on the character and do a /transferstructure

The only difficulity for this will be guild halls (9 lots), but all other structures should be doable. If you don't have lots then get a good friend who you that has lots and put him in the militia to place structures.

Heck, I like my idea. I may just do that for myself! LOL

PA Halls only take 5 lots.

It's very important to only have people you trust on your militia. If something happens that you doubt them, you can remove them from the militia list using the City Management Terminal in City Hall. They don't have to be present, you just select their name from the list.

So only allow the mayor to pack up houses of inactive players. That way they cant use it as a way to greif someone.

-But that crap ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men.

Should have been more carfeul who ya gave zoning rights to. Smart mayors/militia drop the house themselves and then /transfer to house to avoid this kind of problem, and why didnt your milita look over this guys shoulder as he was placing the house to make sure it was going in accodring to the city's layout plan?

I dont think giving Mayors that ability is good, because Mayors WILL grief players out of the city with it. They will use it to run anyone they dont like out.

Plan better to avoid this in the future.

Mayors should definetly get the power to clean up their town, but within limits.
Like a 1-7 days period of warning for the owner (and admins) of a structure, then only beeing able to move them inside city limits and of course without beeing able to take/keep any item from the owner.

The house should not get picked up like it gets currently, it should be moved when the new location is selected (to prevent mayors from taking structures into their datapad and not placing them again), all people on the admin list should get a e-mail stating that the house has been moved by [MAYOR] and is now found at [COORDS]. After moving there should be a certain timeframe in which it is not possible for the mayor to move it again (24-48 hours)

Any problems with a system like this?

Players cant be trusted with this kind of power but what you are asking for is really a PA-controlled city with the PA LEader being the one in sole control of all options.

Perhaps there needs to be 2 types of cities

REAL cities, where everyone who lives there can participate

or Banana Republics where the PA leader is lord of the land, and anyone who disagrees can go piss up a rope.

LOL its funny and yet a scary to see so many folks eager to have virtual feudalism when they could have virtual democracy.

Im sure everyone would like to have a virtual democracy, but the problem is there no way to enforce it. Its hard to say dont put something there when the person in question has 24 HOURS to put anything they want in the city. Under a PA controled system such things can be moderated, but dont forget that PA can hold election as well. But with the new house pack up, obviously it creates new possiblities to move unwanted structure without losing them.

scientifically speaking . . . if the rope is dry enough, and moisture will climb the length . . . though that not really on topic

As I said before, I'd be more inclined to allow a mayor the abilty to move a structure within the city (provided an e-mail was sent with a new wp to the structure owner) rather than them being able to move the structure into the persons (or their) datapad.
