Well, if no one will run against you, and you really hate being mayor, I guess you could pull up the city hall. There's also no obligation for spending the experience points and/or not spending them.

Ok so far I am finding the only way a mayor can get out of running for office is by retiring his politiican tree. Is this correct?
Also, say a mayor has X number of votes and he wants to retire. He gets a new policitican to succeed him. Does that new policitican now get all the incumbent votes (or votes that are automically recorded without actually voting)?
