Thread: Last Night I saw why /citywarn should be removed...
I was in a large raid on a Reb. city. During the attack we were citywarned and attacked by neutrals and coverts that didn't feel like going overt for the battle (there was a faction HQ in the town so they could have). At one point I was warned, and I immediately behan to run out of the city. 30 seconds ended and I wasn't near the border, shot and killed. /Citywarn makes the GCW a joke. Neutrals can be greifed and neutrals can greif. I thought the reason we had factions was so neutrals didn't have to fight. If anyone was in the Battle of Stormhaven they would agree the change is good, and this is comming from the Mayor of a large city on Tempest.
What if you broke into someone's home who wasn't a cop? Should they not defend themselves? They're not trained professionals and havent' delcared themselves as such...
You said it yourself. You're raiding someone else's city. People should have every right to defend their city.
Notice these people cannot warn when outside of their city.
No griefing there in my opinion.
I think the issue JCooper is refering to isa city usingImperial characters and /citywarnin combination to defend a rebel base from other Imperials.

On a more realistic note... first off your scenario of breaking into someones house doesn't exist in SWG. No one can break into anothers house and DB them... nor burn it down for that matter. So your analogy is majorly flawed at best. One way to fix City Warn is make all militia Overt to the entire world, similiar to Jedi. Being a part of a militia should be a great burden. This overt tag should last in/or out of city. Militia is too easy and it shouldn't. Everytime you clone too you should lose your militia rights and have to be redeclared as part of militia.
Morons the lot of you. Herearethe simple facts. You have a "PLAYER" city and they want you not there so they warn you which you they have time to leave the area before they can attack end of story. If you attacking a faction basein a city well should be assuming anyone not with you is hostile anyway Sherlock.Cityarncan only be abused one way and that is if a city is overlapping a POI and that was a stupid mistake by theDEV. Instead of taking the easy way out and removing the citywarn they just need to make it so that the ctiywarn doesn't work in the POI no build zones even if thecity zone did overlap and then citywarn wouldn't bebroken in anyway.
