Thread: No City Warn, But How About City Warp?

I've been involved in city developement since day 1 of the city patch and when they did away with the city warn feature it took away the militias ability to remove trouble makers and arguably, a grief tool, but out city militia is well trained and we never once used it to grief. Anyways, instead of city warn , why not give mayors and possibly the militia the ability to "warp" people outside of city limits?

When you get a tef near one of SWGs GCW static battlefields you can't enter the field and everytime you do you get warped to the outside of the field itself. Why not give us the ability to warp trouble makers to the outside of city limits and give the militia member or the mayor a timer so as not to over warp people or possibly "grief" people, so the ability would and could only be used once in a while when the situation really called for it......................

This should be done. I like it! But i wouldnt' worry about the griefing aspects.I mean.. if two rebs are trading in my cantina - one is overt and the other isn't - the covert guy gets WARPED outside with no warning and is STUCK out there for a while. This shocks many ppl but woulnd't be called a grief.

I LIKE it.. the solution for those who think this COULD be a greif issue is - dont visit this city again! And if I can warp roudy or rude citizens- they can vote me out - or find a city they like - simple.

I've mentioned this idea *many* times to any dev that would listen (however I called it /cityshoo), but they feel that there's a chance of griefing. they're afraid of cities near POIs would use it to keep players out, which was one reason why they took out /citywarn.

It's pretty frustrating when someone causes trouble in your cityand you can't do anything about it... hopefully they'll implement *something* soon

I think they took out /citywarn because someone used it on a CSR... I still think they should reinstate it, but reserve the option of revoking it should it be blatantly misused...

That really is a simple enough thing to do... and overuse it and you lose, seems like a fair policy. Especially since most cities wouldn't do something like that ever, and simply want some small method to nudge players in the right direction, not really cause trouble.

Doubt the crs thing was the reason but it was probably one of the final acts that cut of citywarn.

City warp might sound good, but still possible to grief people, and I dont need to mention all those towns that covers poi sites.. if they removed or moved towns like that I could agree it would be fine, but now as long things are like now.

Citywarn should be brought back, but the ability to use citywarn should be disable if you are X distance from a POI. Citywarn would bring back the feel of an actually militia and help bring some excitement in the GCW. A citywarp can remove troublemakers but not give you the feel of a militia and help enhance the GCW.

How about this: only allow the mayor and 5 militia to be able to citywarn? Maybe have the 5 an elite class ofmilita. This way citywarn would not be overused. But we need something, because I am tired of citybanning people who are causing trouble in my city - and nicely asking them to leave - only to be told "make me" and then they grief more players.

The only problem with warp vs warn would be pvp. If one faction were attacking in the town of another faction, the mayor could either /warp out the attackers, or defenders that need to heal.

That wouldnt change much, 2 people can grief everyone else without a problem. Its not the number of people that can use it, it is the way it used.

Master Politician box is empty - put /citywarn THERE. Not many ppl KEEP Master Politician - so this will reduce the 'griefing' - but if only the mayor can do it, he has to be online - and since many mayors are AWOL, this would also reduce it's use.

Keep in mind the reason for this tool is to balance out griefing on the other side. A Master Poliltician will know that some PVP is good for his city and won't be using the tool to dump everyone. I still say /citywarpis no different that the TEF that bumps you out of your own house if you trade with a overt faction member.

Mayors have no power to deal with those who are rude, abusive, breaking laws, etc. I would like to see something...

Other point, there is not much use for the milita if they cant keep order in town. The mayor normaly use milita to keep things civil not walking around himself with a stick

I sooo like this idea.. Warp them out of town.. that would be great as must people in my city are crafters and would not stand a chance in a fight.
