Searched the forums, came up with to many posts mostly not what I was looking for. Im sure someones mentioned this before, but Ill be damned if I can find it. and Ill be honest, I haven't visited the politician forums since my cities hit level 4. I have read that everyones still having trouble getting out of being mayor. I myself have this problem.
Im wondering though, If I can't get out of being Mayor, can I at least free up the skill points? Im taking a close look at the politcian skill tree ingame as Im typing this. The skill tree offers no Skill mods whatsoever. Only the ability to "Place" civic buildings and to "Install" Trainers and terminals. The skill mods really depend on the city size how many you can do. And once a specialization has been set, it keeps renewing itself. This has me wondering, what if I just surrender Politician all together. Novice Politician Only gives the ability to "place" a city hall, but no skill mods come with keeping one you already have. Is it like when your a Doc and place a Hospital, you surrender Doc but Keep the hospital on your lots, Merchant tent, Cantina, same thing. So I surrender Politician, and it still keeps me as Mayor?
Id give this a try, but I stand to lose some unique things about the city if I do. But someone else probably has, does anyone know a story of what happened?

Thank you so much. I actually just got hold of a CSR who told me that nothing would dissappear, but I would lose control of it all. Basically it would be like it is now except that I couldnt Mass City Email. I think not city emailing is a small price to get all those skill points back.

After I mastered Politician, I dropped the entire skill tree.
The city lost nothing. It took a month or so to find a replacement mayor.
Feel free to drop this worthless skill tree.

yeah, i just recently became a mayor and founder of a city, and it just isn't what i thought'd be, not exactly my cup of tea, but i am going to stick with it, for my town. I also am paying for a second account so i can do more proffessions. It works quiet nicely for me
