Now... In my opinion politicians are boring and need a revamp. My idea is a new profession it can be called ‘Senator’ this profession would require Master Politician and ‘Leadership’ level 4 on the ‘Squad Leader’ tree. I’m thinking that the four branches in this tree be called Voter, Fiscal Policy, Civic Policy, and City Customization (You may have noticed the last three are also on the Politician tree and I will explain that later). A politician will vote to Ban certain people from any given city (Player or Non-Player Cities) a Terminal should be Placed on one side of the Starport entrance (Because seriously in any given city its Cantina or Starport every once and a while med center)
Branches of the Senator tree
Novice Senator: 1 Vote in city voting terminal may place Advanced City Hall (A city hall bigger than a regular city hall and holds 2x as much stuff of course it cost 1.5x as much in maintenance).
Voter I: +1 Vote in city voting Terminal
Voter II: +1 Vote in city voting Terminal
Voter III: +1 Vote in city voting Terminal
Voter IV: +1 Vote in city voting Terminal
The other 3 branches are exactly what they seem; Extensions of the politician tree the things you can’t get in a player city now you will be able to then. Like if the city is on tatooine it can have a cantina like the one in Mos Espa that is also a wreaked spaceship. Somewhere in there be Place Archives (like what you seen in Episode 2 when Obi Wan is looking for Coruscant)
Master Senator: +2 Votes in the city voting box May place STARPORT (YES you heard me Starport this will allow ease of travel between planets and help populate player cities.)
What votes can and cannot do
Can:
Vote to ban Overt faction members
Vote to ban Jedi Initiate and above, Smugglers, and Bounty Hunters
Vote to put a city population limit (about 200-400 within the city limits)(The average would be taken or vote on 200-400 in incriments of 50)
Cannot:
Vote to ban other professions than named above
Vote to have a lower or higher City Population Limit than named above)
Only has a maximum of 7 votes (Therefore, cannot vote in Theed 7 times then vote in Coronet 7 times; So on and so forth.)
Other
I mentioned a City Voting Terminal this will be a terminal it will be what you go to to cast your vote/votes.
The city limit and banning abilities will help to bring lag down
(LD) Do not count on city population limit
Votes should be taken once a week or once every two weeks.

this would be great if palpatine didn't make this a no go but executing emergency powers and never letting go.

I'd like them enhance player cities and fix Mayor issues before adding a new politician profession whose prereqs include two broken professions.
I like the idea of a Senate but right now there are pressing matters. If there was some sort of Senate option I would like to see it available to all Politicians (Whether a Mayor or not) but I'm not sure what sort of value added that would pose to the Politician profession or Player Cities.

Apparantly, because of some sort of coding quirk, player starports are waaay too coding intensive...

I don't understand how my idea affects the social aspect of the game whats JTL going to do.......
bringing personal ships to the game eleminates the need for starports....... anyway back to the party......

JTL doesn't eliminate the need for starports. You will have to be at a starport to pull your ship out of your datapad. The only thing it will reduce is the use of paying for a transport to travel to another planet.

It has to do with the fact that Starports are hard-coded into the game, becuase they are both a coding monster, and are portals to JTL. Player cities are NOT hard coded into the game, per se, and thus anything within them is considered "temporary" according to the game code (because they can be moved at any moment by players).
So, no player city starports.
As far as the Senate goes, because of LucasArts licensing and their full-control of all Star Wars names and timeline/continuity issues, there cannot be a game-coded title higher in the heirarchy than "Mayor". The galactic senate was disbanded by Emperor Palpatine, you remember, so there cannot be any official titles of "Senator" or "Governor" or anything of the sort coded into SWG.
Both of these information bits come from what we were told at Fan Fest by the designers/devs.

what about shutle ports are they not hard coded into the game... I mean I understand that starports are hard-coded and that player cities arnt the thing im wondering now is that why are shuttle ports able to be placed in player cities and why they are not hard-coded as a starport is. If any one can answer this for me, please

I hope they hold a fanfest outside of the US as it sounds like a lot was learnt at these.

Shuttleports don't serve the same functions as starports do. They won't have any effect on JTL at all, and all they really are, are re-spawn points for players. And, you'll notice that they did severely limit the number of player city shuttleports to 10 per planet.
Also, shuttleports don't have to connect to anything outside of their planetary zone server cluster. So they are less system-load inducing than starports.
Finally, shuttleports aren't decorated like starports are, with furniture, multiple ticket vendors, etc etc.
I think all of these factors allow shuttleports to remain temporary, player city structures, and thus dissuade the need for them to be hard-coded. Player cities are still not allowed more than one shuttleport, however, probably because of this fact too.
