Thread: Militia Management

Hi to everyone!


I am new to the Politician profession, but so far have been enjoying it greatly, my current status is 1-1-1-3.


I have a question that I have been unable to see previously posted, I apolgize if it has been answered before and I am just not seeing it.


Right now it appears that I can not delete anyone at all from the Militia permissions, I can add new members, but no one that is already on there can be removed. It tells me that they are being removed from the list, but they are still there.


I waited for the weekly city update to see if that had anything at all to do with it, but no they were still there after Sunday's update.


Any ideas?

I was able to remove someone last night. If I remember correctly all I did was select the person, click the ok button and then it asked for confirmation that I wanted to remove that person from the militia. After clicking yes I checked the list and, indeed, the name no longer appears. This person was not standing anywhere near me at the time, in fact I seriously doubt they were even on the same planet. I can double check the militia list tonight, but it *looked* like it worked last night.

From what I've heard, the player has to be online and nearby to be removed from the militia. You can't just walk over to the terminal at any time and chhose whom you want to remove.

Thank you both for the info!


I did thru my searching find in the current "this week in politics" my answer.


I guess I need them to be within the 10 m range to have them removed, so I will just have to be patient with the people that have left the game till there houses drop and they are removed from the Citizens list.

Yes, one of those fun little gotchas that make player cities so much fun. I have heard of an instance where a member of the militia, who on having a falling out with the Mayor, was happily giving /grantzoningrights to everyone they met.


The Mayor could not revoke the players militia status as they wouldn't go to the City Hall and stand by the terminal to have - what they thought was a great act of revenge - stopped.

Just another example of a slam bam slapped together profession design with no thought of the consequences that results from a player griefing the 'system'.


If you can remove a player from your guild by standing at a terminal in your PA Hall, or typing a command, I am hard put to understand WHY this one line of code can not be added to the Militia commands for the Politician.

THis is a MAJOR problem, and I have it too. We need to be able to remove people without them being there. If they are going to be griefers, what makes anyone think they will come into city hall and cooperate? The mayor should be able to just remove them at wiill.

Isn't there a "revoke citizenship" command that will effectively take the player off the militia also?

That command can only be used by 'self'.

Yup - yet another totally horrible problem with player cities, fully known for a long time, and again, not at all addressed by the devs. This and the ability of a Mayor to destroy city hall should have been hot-fixed immediately upon discovery - but both still exist...

I checked the militia list again last night and the name in question is gone. Now either by freak occurence the person happened to be running by the outside of city hall at the precise moment I clicked on remove or maybe we are now able to remove people without requiring them to stand nearby. Alternatively, it might have succeeded only because he has claimed citizenship in another city and this forced a check to see if the person in question was in fact a citizen of Talath. I can't say for sure, but they aren't on the list anymore.
