I saw this in some old posts and have not seen it in the Politician FAQ. Maybe i am just missing it, but can someone tell me this...
If i am the incumbent mayor week over week do people have to keep voting for me if they have voted for in the past? Essentially if that is correct then the only people who have to physically vote are the new citizens that declare residence and have never voted before.
Thanks for the help.

Even new citizens do not have to vote initially. You have to vote AGAINST the incumbant, otherwise your vote isFOR the incumbant.

I see, so as the incumbent mayor with no challengers you get all the votes regardless if anyone actually goes to the terminal and votes for you.
SWEET!!

Nope! Each citizen's vote defaults to the incumbent mayor. So if there are no other players running for mayor, the incumbent mayor basically gets 100 politician xp per player listed as citizen at the time of the city update. Voting only really has any meaning if there are more than one player running for mayor.
Thus, there is NO need for citizens to actually vote unless they want to replace the mayor.

Or course, this makes stepping down almost impossible with larger cities as you need to have the majority of citizens turn out and vote. Odd that staying in power is so easy, yet trying to LOSE the mayor title is so difficult.
