Thread: How close can cities be?
City halls can be 1001m from each other. With a 450m max radius, you can't ever interfere with each other.
On the map, anything less than about 3k looks like they're right on top of you if they are to the west or south of you. This is because the map pointer marking their city takes up a good 1.5 - 2k of space to the northeast of where their city hall actually is.

Are you certain that is the goal? That might just like the spot.
Even if it is, you'll still get shuttleport revenue out of them.

Another city can be 1001m away from your City Hall or further, and with each city having a maximum 450m radius, both can reach metropolis is they grow fast enough.
I wouldn't worry, though- we have had lots of people try to build their cities near ours and they have failed everytime - people had to come to our city to use the shuttleport and figured that they might as well stay in our city as it was much better.
Also, IF someone is deliberately trying to undermine your city, you can take action - one mayor was running around our cityspamming that they wanted people to leave and go to their city and they would not stop when we asked them nicely, so we just /citybanned them and we had no more trouble.
Hope that helps!
I don't know for certain that is their plan, but a city named Nomadia makes you wonder.
If they liked the spot so much, why not just join Oceanview? We're always looking for good people.
I don't consider them competition. Most cities anywhere near us die off quickly. People either join us or the other large cities in the area.
Why not find an uncapped planet (if possible) or wait until a city fails?
Anything worth building takes patience.
Real life cities in no way equate to SWG cities.
Combining cities is ok, I always thought about the 'twin city' model, although now I want to spread out onto other planets.
If you are a merchant city, having more cities around you is great for business...put all the vendors around the shuttleport and you get lots of through traffic for people heading to the other cities, and they often stop off to have a look through the vendors. Even shoppers heading to a vendor in one of those nearby cities will just stop to look at your vendors.
Being the hub for an area makes you feel like your city is actually worth something andbeing a useful part of your area on the planet.I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Now the problem I've having with these new cities (yes, more have popped up since I first posted) is that they are sending people into my city to poach citizens.
I caught someone doing this and told him it was very bad form.
I agree that is bad form
Our small village we are building is close to some other villages but our intention is not to steal....
we jsut wanted our own city.... we didn't realize how close we were until we had already moved everything in
