There has been a change to the tip system that allows you to tell if a person has logged on.
While tips to off-line characters used to go directly to the other person, they now go to an holding account. When the tip receiver logs on, the money goes from the holding account to the the target's account and both people are emailed. You can use this function to see if someone logs on.
To see if someone logs on.....
-Send them a 1credit tip
-Make a comment in the friends list: Tipped Feb 26
-If you get an email saying the tip was delivered, the person logged on. (maybe use the comment field to keep track of dates)
-No tip received email... and they haven't logged on
With the 'about 6 weeks' change to citizenship, maybe we can at least use this to see if someone has logged on and be prepared for changes to our city. Yes, it's more unnecessary time consuming mayor stuff to do, but at least it's something.

Thanks for the idea. I have a couple of citizens that I haven't seen in a while and wonder if I'm just missing them or they are not coming around. I'll try this and see if I can find out.

Excellent tip. I have a few people I'm wondering about myself. I'll use this tonight to find out.

I am doing something similar myself in my city. I have already, and plan every 4 to 6 weeks, send a "census" e-mail to everyone in my town. In this letter I ask them to just reply to the letter with "alive", "I am here", or something simple. Then, since I have every citizen listed in my friends list I just mark in the comments field the date they replied. I can with a quick glance then see who has responded lately and who I should be worried about having dissapeared. It is not the greatest, but I have only had 2 not reply yet this week (I sent it Wednesday) and they may be on this weekend.

How does this show you when they last logged on? We're worried about people on our friends lists, labelled citizen, who may or may not be logging on (six week rule). You send them the money, and when they log on, you can breathe easier, knowing the doomsday timer is reset for them.
Remember: the best way to run a MMO is to punish the players for ONLY the things they have no control over.

This is a great idea, thanks for sharing. Plan on using this tactic myself. Would be great if you could see the last time someone was online through the friends list though.

I like this idea a lot. Thanks for sharing. I can already think of one or two citizens I could use this one.
