Thread: Reviving the dead..
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can revive the city I am currently mayor of? I had only been there for a short time, and did not know many people very well when the CU came and the major leaders left. I had been running for mayor to get politician exp, and when I learned that the leaders were leaving, realized I would eventually become mayor, as I was the only other one who would run. Unfortunately, I did not realize how many were leaving, and thought that there would be enough people left in our city for us to continue doing what we had been. Now, I am stuck with citizens, who if they really are still in game and playing their character on Naritus, will not respond to any email I send out asking who remains, nor that of one of the guilds in our city.
Any ideas on how I can revive our town, get people to help raise money for the treasury, and continue growing?
1. Communication - You need to keep people updated and informed of the good the bad and the future of the city. Remember, you cannot do it alone. It takes many people to help develop a long standing, active city. You are at an advantage, you have at your disposal an established city. Network with a few of the active citizens and develop a plan to breathe fresh air into your home.
2. Vision - This is the one time when it is on your shoulders to develop a vision of what you want this city to be. I am not saying that you take a totalitarian approach, I am saying you need to act as the facilitator for whatever ideas you and the people you are working with can generate. They may decide it is up to you to take it in a certian direction, or the group may have something in mind for what the city will become. You must maintain the role of "figurehead", "spokesperson" and "motivator" in either situation.
Remember, to best breathe life back into your home, your best tools are your creativity and the people around you... Do not think you have to do it alone.
Unfortunately, when talking to a leader of a guild in the city, I learned that she has also not had any responses to any emails asking about citizenship, which leads me to believe that we are the only remaining active members. Yes, we can discuss plans easier, as we don't have to play telephone or set up conferences, but it also means we generate fewer ideas for revival and also have limited ability to do very much.
Your ideas are appreciated, and I'll attempt to put them into use, but I'm not sure how well I can put them into practice here.
Best of luck to ya!
go on a recruitment kick, and hope for the long promised inactive character purge.
It would be nice if SOE would set up a dedicated database outside of the game to transfer inactive characters to then delete them from the live servers. Then 6 months down the road, when the character came back to 'see if things have improved' they could at least be given back their inventories. But really, I don't give a flaming fig for anyone who has quite. Put it in the TOS. If you do not log on for 60 days your account goes inactive, and your character gets zotted. Simple, and effective.

If you want to check if someone is logging in... send them a bank tip of 1 credit. When they log in you get a timestamped return email.
That's a really good idea. I'll have to make a note of that.
