First I give credit to Shalandai, or current mayor for implementing this idea (it goes in the wish I had thought of it category)

Our town has a small Naboo house that has been designated as the post office.

The mayor puts backpacks in the house along the walls setting each one with each citizens name to act as their "Post Office" box. The mayor adds the person to the house's admin list and sends an email to let them know they have access.

Its great, all a cizizen has to do to to hand off stuff to another is go into our secure post office and drop the stuff in the pack with the right person's name and send that person an email to let them know its read for pickup.

The convinence is amazing!

The Post Office access is limited to known active citizens, and PO boxes for inactive citizens are taken down and they are removed from the admin list.

We have had no problems with theft (and I am sure if anyone stole from the PO and got caught, they would be booted from the guild and citybanned if not /reported as well.) Also we disallow people storing stuff in the PO so if stuff gets left for a while, the Mayor knows about it and takes care of it.

The PO is right next to our city hall for easy access and has proven to be a real asset.
