Thread: Multiple Residence

First off... from a roleplaying standpoint it makes perfect sense to me that I can be a mayor on Naboo and have a residence on Rori. Out of character> it would be nice if I could lend support to a player city on Rori. On my server, at least, a PC on Rori has a life expectancy of about 2 months.

I do not have multiple residency. Too much is at stake.

I believe we have been told that multiple residency is a "problem" and it is going to be "fixed".

If that "fix" is included in the inactive player "purge" then we are told we will have advance notice.

We won't. We'll be lucky if it is mentioned in the Publish notes when the "fix" goes live. We will most likely realize that it has already happened when the excrement has forcefully contacted the ventilation system.

Here's how they are going to fix it. All characters that have multiple residence willdrop -all- their residences, and then they are free to choose one residence. How do I know this? I don't. But it is the easiest fix. Programmers are not stupid, just lazy.

So... being a mayor, if I lost all my residences... what happens to city hall?

Please let us take this question to DEV =management=. -If- they know the possible problem, and -if- it is passed on to programmers, and -if- it all goes to slime anyway... maybe some of those programmers will be fired.

They don't deserve to have a job if they can't do it well.

Let the Medium Naboo House Footprint be our guide. They are =not= going to think things through.

The multiple residence issue, basically the dual-citizenship bug, is one that we really do need addressed. While it makes sense that a character could have multiple residences, even in RL someone in that kind of situation has a primary address (you wouldn't want your important mail showing up in three different places). That's essentially what declaring residency means....choosing your primary residence.

Being able to have multiple places as your "primary" address, your declared residence, is not really a healthy thing for the Player City system. A healthy Player City has active residents, not place-holders. While some players could genuinely be active in two cities, allowing it from a mechanics standpoint opens doors I don't think we want to go into.

Many cities are already dealing with stagnant advancement because of empty Player Cities in the ranks above them held up by cancelled accounts, cross-server citizen trades, and, in some cases, exploited use of the dual-citizenship bug. Is it fair to these lower-ranked but active Player Cities to be denied advancement because a higher-ranked city abused the system?

I understand the desire to help out another Player City where you have friends, but this kind of "help" would cause more problems than it solved. Not everyone would abuse it, but if it became an acceptable thing and not an exploit the problem we already face would become much more widespread.

Actually multiple is more accurate. When I visit other cities I often look over the information on the city terminal. I know of several characters that are residents in three and even four seperate cities. Most on different planets but some even on the same planet.

I agree, this should be changed. However... if a mayor were to lose citizenship in their town, and if that made the town in any way inoperable... we should head that off.

If the fix is going to be "eliminate all multiple residence" we should make sure it includes "except no eliminating a residence in a city hall".

Personally, for purely selfish reasons, I hope it's not fixed anytime soon. I was resident of a Jedi town on Dant in like November of last year. I pulled up my house once my friend actually had enough people there to sustain it but forgot to undeclare residence. I live primarily in my guild's city on Naboo.

Flash to May, mayor of the Jedi city says they need someone to take over mayor and for some reason, I am still a resident there even though I don't have a house. I want to level up on Poli because I want to be a master ID/master dancer Warmaster (come on, how cool is that title??) So I've been slowly levelling up there even though the only thing I own there is the cantina.

Like I said, purely selfish reasons.

now now, remember what I said...

they know about it, they know why it's happening (unlike sales tax), and they don't know when they'll fix it (programmers don't decide on the schedule, the higher level dudes do). from what I know (and can't tell you) the fix will take some effort.

You can revoke your citizenship by using the City Management Terminal in City Hall. Sometimes it's possible to just declare residence in another location, but that doesn't always work.

I was under the impression that you can have multiple residencies as long as they are not on the same planet. I would love to see this fixed. We had a guild member cause a LOT of trouble and was removed from the guild. Unfortunately he was a citizen...so he receives all of my citizen emails and shows up to events to crash them. He has started his own city on Talus and is mayor there...yet still a citizen of our city. Its this big silly mean game to him, so he refuses to revoke citizenship. Having citizenship in one city would really solve a lot of problems.
