Ok we goofed and need to move city hall. Now I know I can "destroy" it, and I can withdraw the funds from the treasury (50K per day limit I believe). but the question is:

1) can we immediately place a new city hall? Or do we have to wait until the next day's maintenance deletes the old city and opens up a slot for another city?

2) I don't recall but is there a chance we get the deed back for the origtinal city hall (I bet not, bet we have to buy a new city hall deed).

If you can point me in the direction of official word on this thanks, or if you have any acttual knowledge...devs? thanks.

Oh yes, should I try to contact SWG support for help? your opinion on this please.

--I'll let you guys know what kind of answer I get from "in game customer service". I just emailed them. I am hoping that we can place our 2nd city hall, delete the 1st one and everything will "shift" to the new city hall....this may be possible if we get actual in game support.

I remeber a Post of a mayor who tried setting a city hall on a planet that met the caps again and again (in case one city get's destroyed) and finaly did succeed ... CSR has supposedly told him he set down the hall only 2 minutes after the other city was destroyed ... so you should be able to set the city right away.

No chance ... all city "resettings" I heard of had to craft a new hall

Your City hall does NOT redeed, and cannot be moved. The only other way to move it is to get a new deed in your hand and destroy it, and quickly place it in the new spot once it is destroyed so that noone places a city to fill the cap later on....

As promised here is the response by customer service: (with my comments in parenthesis)

Thank you for contacting Star Wars Galaxies In-Game Support.

There can be only one city hall within the city radius. (Doh! dumb me)

When the second city hall is placed, it will create a new city. (Hmmm planet is maxed out, does planet IMMEDIATELY recognize 1st city is destroyed or is there a lag....)

Any credits remaining in the city treasury when the first city hall is destroyed will not be
transferred to any other city treasury but will be destroyed. (ok)

Placement of a new city will follow all the standard rules for city placement
including the limit on cities per planet. (ok)

There is not normally a time delay before placing a new city, though the server will need to
recognize that the old city is no longer present before it will allow
the placement of a new city within that old city's radius. (!!!! A vital question here, and almost a useable answer!!!! This is the most pertinant question, as our main desire is NOT TO LOSE OUR CITY. When does the server "recognize the old city is no longer present"???? 2 minutes? after server reset? after election day passes?)

A CSR is unfortunately not able to assist in this process. (my heart is broken)

Hail there!

I am mayor an outpost. We goofed, boy. Our City hall is in a crummy position.

We are prepared to bite the bullet and buy a new deed for city hall and
place it in a better position. We just don't want to lose our "city".

1) Can we place the 2nd city hall while the first one still exists? (no
info on this anywhere of course).
2) When we "Destroy" the 1st city hall will the city survive and shift
to the 2nd city hall?
3) Will the money in the treausry shift as well? (if not no big problem,
the mayor can withdraw it).
4) Is it possible to get some "in game" help during this process?
5) If we HAVE to destroy the 1st city hall before placing the 2nd city
hall, can we place 2nd one immediately after destroying 1st one?
6) If we cannot place immediately, when can we place? Will our "spot"
for a city still be open?

Unfortunately.. you are also losing your city status.... which mean you start at outpost level.. if you are already at level 4 then you will miss that chance to become level 4 again since others have been placed before you and waiting.

city hall is the only thing that does not redeed.

Chibi brings up the biggest point you have to worry about, the level 4&5 restrictions. If you start your city over there is a good chance you will be stuck at a lower level if you are on one of the big 3 planets.

I don't think you have to wait for a server reset. I would think it would be almost automatic, but that is my guess not from experience.

--The deed is done!! I am one of the very few who have actually DESTROYED A CITY!!!!!

--We feared that we would have to wait until the server reset to place our new city hall. It turns out I could place it as soon as I got there which was about five minutes after destroying the old city hall. So basically the "slot" for a city opens immediately when a city hall is destroyed (from empiracal evidence anyway)

--Another fear we had was the number of NPC spawn locations in the area (within the 500M maximum radius for a size 5 city) We feared the presence of these locations would prevent placing a city. I only hope they do not prevent us from growing in the future. There were no "permanent" npc buildings or structures within the 500m radius we surveyed, but we didn't know if the area had any "reserved for future use" spots in it, and in fact we still don't know that.

--I wish there was someway to KNOW if any kind of NPC or future development feature would prevent us from growing to maximum size (presuming that a) a slot is open and b) we get the population)....but there's no knowing and no telling....maybe something is there, maybe it's not....no way to know.
