Thread: yet another citywarn idea. citywarn warning
its first thing in the morning so maybe I'm talking jibberish right now. But I had a thought. Have /citywarn a type of city specification. "Martial Law"or somthing. Upon purchase of a ticket, or entry into the city limits, the user gets a message. Either by popup (shuttle ticket purchase time) or a flash white text across the screen. "You are about to buy a ticket/enter a city that is under martial law. You may be forced into open PvP if the local authorities do not wish your precense in the city"
Then have the option at buying the ticket - 'yes - I am aware, continue purchase' or 'no, I'll select a new destination'
Entering the city on foot/mount/vehicle - 'yes, enter the city' or 'no, I'm outta here' Same sort of deal as a battlefeild.
If its a city specification, cities have to pay for it, and not all cities will have it. Make it expensive too to discourage it 200-250K/week. Spending money to kill potential customers really. Could end up being more costly in the long run. But if a city REALLY REALLY wants it, they can have it. They just have to be willing to make the economic sacrifice.
Just my monday morning thought of the day. NICE, my brain can idle for the rest of the day!
And this doesn't prevent player cities from blocking ingame content (POIs) ... you'd still have to disallow usage of this feature around POIs etc ... and I'm not sure this is an "easy task" for the Devs.
Would be nice if "Citizens" would not get the message or perhaps an option on the pop-up would be "Always ignore" or something like that so you see the message once.
One thing I find hard to know is the "faction" of a city. If you choose a city and travel there you may all of a sudden get a lesson in what faction hangs out there the most.
I think this is dumb, I get messages from people sending me /tell's asking if my city is neutral because they are afraid of the "I died two seconds after I stepped of the shuttle" experience. It would be nice if we could get some indication of a city as being Militia controlled, Rebel, Imperial or undeclared.. But I guess this has been brought up before.
So maybe the idea would be to have the specialization of Faction: Military Law, Rebel, Imperialotherwise a city is neutral in general. This doesn't stop people from placing faction scanners and killing one faction or another but it is a step in the right direction.
With my recent experiences I am tempted to put both types of scanners by my shuttle and just kill anyone with any faction.
I'm tired of being trapped by griefers that think they are so smart and doing something "so original".
