Thread: Ambassadors and Embassies

Now that our top five has been submitted and we have had a week to collect ourselves again I've been mulling over some new projects. Recently I've delagated some of the less tangible (read not granted by the Politician skills) responsibilities I've held within the town since long before player cities were implemented. In fact I have appointed an Ambassador (Trrystyn Trryn, for those of you on the Intrepid server) to promote good will and better relations and communications between cities.

I know that this is not an original idea, so I was hoping to solicit some input on the value of the Ambassador rolefrom other Politicians who have implemented it and what that role entails in the case of each given city. Moreover I am curious if anyone has considered or actually placed Embassies in other cities. The thought occurred to me to do so, but I'm interested to see if anyone else has already done this and what value those Embassies may (or may not) have brought to the citizens of your towns.

Also, should anyone on the Intrepid server be interested in entertaining a visit from our Ambassador please let me know and I will ask her to schedule a time to meet with whomever handles diplomatic ties within your city.

xXx have enmbarked on embassies,,, we got someone from the guild to go place a pa hall in the someones town in exchange we allow them to do the same.

The rules are.

That 1 the name is xXx embassy, <guildname> embassy

2, No recruiting in each others town/city or base, that is just provides a means to sign people from out side the town also provides a means the town to talk to the other guild through the ambassador.

The only problem is... finding someone who has 8 slots to be able to place it.

I'm hopeing that elite will do a embassy swrap etc, etc as a guild can have more that 1 pa hall (just for those who don't know) the person who places the pa hall, and is already in a guild that PA hall will be another hall to that guild it provides another place to you to bring people to sign up.

we say no recruiting in each others town cause to me thats like taking your own drink into the pub,

The name is set because we dont want people confused.

The last rule which most disagree with is

3. The embassy and persons with it are Immune to the citys law... out side is city law on and inside the PA hall, its the law of the orginal owners.

just like in R/L all persons are immune to be arrested etc, as its illeagel to have guns in the UK and we all know! theres guns on the US Embassy... they don't get arrested cause they are immune or excement from the law.

Thank you

Have you seen any benefit to having the embassy in place? Is it staffed and utilized? If so, to what end?

I"m basically the ambassador for my town as well as the mayor. However since we are still an outpost for now I am more or less just keeping to myself and a few nearby cities. When we hit rank 3 (or hopefully 4) I'll start to make the rounds a bit more and start to keep ties with the friendly towns and create a few enemies just for fun. I'd love to make an embassy but I"m the PA hall placer (just handed over the reigns to a friend) and have 1 lot left meaning I can do roughly jack and squat. It would be fun though, have a real ambassador and actual ties to another town besides mail and training.

It would be an interesting idea for a civic structure however. Allow for admin rights to be granted (only by the mayor) to other people so they can name it New Aldera Embassy and make it private to solely their citizens and the mayor or publicif they wish. It would go a good way to allowing ties with many cities to grow and not cost anyone. Even if I wasn't the guy who wasted 9 lots I would only be able to befrienda couple cities before my lots ran dry. Unless they were all on Naboo or Dantooine of course but those round houses aren't really the nicest places.

Yes we have seen great benifit.

Faster communicate between the 2 indivdual guilds. Also the bond between the guild is strengtherned and we are able to coordinate much better.

Also if that ambassador guild gets som1 to place a base it will mean the guild will come and defend it which will mean extra defenders for the city etc.

The embassy only needs 1 person i.e some discruntled member who is unhappy where u placed the guild give them a PA hall and tell them where to stick it!.

ROFL! Thanks, I nearly spit coffee out my nose on that one!

Once I get a few more citizens (that being the motto of Talusian mayors across the servers) maybe I can afford to loose a couple to such endeavors. Still it would appear the idea has merit from what you are saying.

Oh, and to PsychoticChimpmunk - I did almost choose that exact same name for our city on Intrepid. Great minds think alike, eh?
