So I come back from a 5 day break from the game to find my guild disbanded and our city torn down. I still don't know the cause of all of it but I was glad at least to see the hospital I placed is still there, even with the city hall gone. I was thinking of placing a temp house to move out all of my meds and organics but I've got tons of paid up maintenece so I thought I'd ask a few questions here first.

1. What happens to orhaned city structures after the city hall is removed?

2. Will the hospital still function for healing?

3. We had a good spot for the city and I wouldn't be suprised if another sprang up there sometime. Will this effect the hospital since a low level city can not usually build one in the beginning?

Well, hmm you could pick it up and move to a new city, the maintenance is stored in the deed so will still be there when you relay it. If a new city comes up, I think your med center will just be there, and won't be added as a "glorified" city structure until the city can technically support it. A hospital is a hospital so I am also pretty sure it still helps ya heal and such.

Thanks for the reply Trean, I probably will move it to a new city as you suggested. I think the trick will be joining anew one. Most of the established cities on my server have hospitals already or havea Doc who is ready to drop one the second the city hits the correct rank.

I don't mind waiting a while for a new location, but I'd like to keep it up and operational until then if it's not going to poof out of existence. I had a really good stim and enhance trade going from my vendor but I imagine that will dry up now with the shuttle gone. If the game rules allow it, I'd rather keep all of my med junk in this location rather than moving to a temp house and re-deeding the structure.

So I am crusing across Lok, not paying much attention. I glance at the screen and see that I have become hung up on a structure. I back up and realize it is a PC cantina. Out in the middle of no where all by itself. No city, no houses, nothing. So I walk in.

[start twilight zone music]

It is quite obviously a player cantina. The decorations are a mish-mash of this and that. After a brief look around, I head out the door... And find myself in a player city on the other side of the planet.

Scatching my head, I store and call my scooter. I had no idea what the waypoint was, but I went back to try and find it all the same. I found the place were it ought to have been, though I can't be sure. No sign of it.

This was an anomily that I would like to re-create. A power that could be harnessed (exploited) to the betterment of all SWG kind! Matter transmission had no part in SW, but I was always a big fan of STrek, too.

For reference, the cantina was about 11,000 meters out of place (out of phase?), and there was no geometric consistiency (opposite corner, opposite side, transposed coordinate...)

Q1.

1. Civic Structures... Buildings placeable only by the mayor requiring no lot usage. In the event the city hall is destroyed, all civic structures will automatically collapse, leaving nary a trace but a fond memory. City Hall, Shuttleport, cloning center, garage, decorations, parks, lights, bank, statues, fountains, etc.

2. Player City Structures... Buildings placeable by specific players requiring a certain skill set by the player and a city with a predetermined rank to qualify for placement. The prerequisites for these structures are for placement only. The structures are not affected by player dropping skills or city losing rank or disappearing. Therefore, as long as you maintain the maintenance, the structure will remain much like any other player building. Theater, hospital, cantina.

These terms and defenitions are my own personal terminology and logical assesment for building classification. If SOE uses other terminology and or defenitions for these buildings i mean no disrespect.

Q2.

The hospital as well as any player placed building will always function for healing. It gives no benefitsover a small house or a guild hallor a cantina etc etc. The hospital does however allow for more inventory space. 225 items if I'm not mistaken. For some this will be a huge benefit over a small or medium house.

Q3.

If someone comes along and drops a new city hall encompasing your hospital, the structure becomes part of the city. The first time you walk into that building if it is your declared residence, you will become a citizen of said city. If not when you declare residence you will become a citizen at that point.

Hope this helps

Thanks Keli, that does square everything I was concerned about. Just didn't want to log in and find any more surprises.
