Just like RL politics, there's a point after an election where a politician has officially lost the election, but is not out of power just yet where he's referred to as a lame duck.

I think there've been enough instances of deposed Politicians getting nasty that its time to implement something like this in game.

Proposal:

1) No structures or trainerscan be placed or removed in a period 24 hours preceding an election by a Politician. This is the campaign time.

2) No politician currently holding less than 50% of the popular vote may destroy any civic structure until his vote count is above 50%. This is an anti-griefing measure.

3)Alternate: No politician who's current vote count is less than 50% may remove any structure unless granted permission by a militia member through the /grantzoningrights command.

I'm not one who's a great believer in the idea that player cities aren't owned, but that does not mean that one person should be granted an unlimited grasp on power.

I'm not going to pretend to know the answer as I'm a Novice Politician. But I can tell you that I'm a Novice Politician because of issues in this topic. Something has to be done to prevent the griefing from Lame Duck Mayor's.

Thanks Roren

Just have it once the city hall is place it cannot be destroyed by anyone. Only way a cityhall can be removed is if the minimal population is not maintained.

I think they should have check and balances like in real life politics, but just like real life there will be always problems with the system. I think malitia should be more like a governing council that is needed to approve Placement and Destruction of some of the civic structures, perhaps just the city hall, managing taxes might be another thing that could be approved by the malitia/city council.I think this mightmake a stronger running city and weed out the power junky politicians. TheMayor still should have some uberpowers over the malitia/city council tho....

#1 sounds like it might just get to be more painful than the problem it solves. #2, however, is an excellent idea. If your vote % falls below 50% you lose the right to place or remove any structures in the city until after the election. Also, as a failsafe, I'd recommend that removal of city hall requires a 1/2 to 2/3 vote of the population to do so. I know that's a ton of extra code, but it's a critical safegard to prevent griefing.

This is my other account, but I am Rorenikibi as well. I know full well what the deal is with this profession's limitations and capabilities are. I'm a goddamned Master Politician and wear the title.

Believe me, this exploit of control needs to be dealt with. Its one thing to have the ability to be voted out of office, but its another to impose Armageddon because you're about to lose.
