Thread: City Successfully Moved to a New Location

I'ma newmayor of a small city (name and server not important) and our active residents and I have all agreed to move to a different location for a fresh start. We have placed our houses and businesses and Guild Hall in the new location and have our City Hall Deed ready.

You might ask why a city would decide to undertake such madness...well, let's just say we're tired of empty shops and houses with 300+ days of maintenance andhave come to the realization that we may never get a shuttleport. So it's all about location, location, location....no more inactives and much closer to a NPC city shuttleport and spaceport.

I understand that to pull this off I will need to somehow destroy the current City Hall and then place the new one pretty much immediately. Please understand there is nothing underhanded going on here....I won the election with the support of my residents fully knowing this was taking place.

Can I please get some help on the process I need to do to make sure this goes smoothly and successfully. How does one go about levelling a City Hall? Any hints or ideas would be appreciated to ensure we don't lose our lvl 1 status.

Thanks in advance.

The best is do the same when founding anew City, get 9 people with you when placing the new Hall.

Also as written above, a city hall does not redeed, u need a new cityhall deed. (Everyone that started a city should remember the message at placing that says it is unredeedable).

Beside that, im not sure, but i think your old City Name cannot be choosen again for a couple of time, but not sure on that

I'd say the two main considerations are:

1) Are you moving to another location on the SAME planet?

and

2) Is that planet currently at the city cap?

If so, it could be a lot trickier... As there have been some reports that the server does not immediately realize a city has been destroyed, and will not lower the total number. So it will still think that the planet is capped.

Ifthe server updating its cap info isnot an issue (and I've read reports from people both saying it is, and isn't so who knows, but I figured it was worth mentioning) consider this...You might want to consider having a friend pick up Novice Politician ready to place the new City Hall IMMEDIATELY after you destroy the old one. This decreases the chances someone else will try and place a City Hall during your travel time to your new destination.

Basically, it's a very risky move if you're on a capped planet.

Good luck!

I dunno if it's all that risky, given that even on capped planets there aren't poli's sitting around every second trying to placea City Hall, in theoff-chance hope that somehow, somewhere, some city poofed.

Best bet would be to redeed the hall just prior to server shut down, go to your new location and log out. Immediately after you're able to, log in and place your hall.

I took my old city down after a guild split to allow those on the fence a graceful way out. you can only remove 50K per day from your city treasury and you will lose anything in the treasury, when you destroy the city hall. Since we moved only 1500M we had no problems at all putting down the new city hall and then start placing housing again (although we did this on lok). Now once you place the new city hall you will have to get the 10 citizens within 24 hours again, and go through the growing process from the start. Also when the city hall goes any statues or parks still within the city limits will vanish.

Thanks for the suggestions and help......

We are on a capped planet.

We are moving the city to about 3,000m closer to a NPC city so that we will have better access to a starport and spaceport.

We do have a new City Hall Deed ready to place.

We have 10 core players ready to declare res at the new location (within the 24 hour cap).

My plan is to destroy and drive like mad to the new location and then place the new City Hall. I like your suggestion on doing it right before the server reset. I might need to look into that.

Can anyone confirm that I would need to do this before and after the Server Patch?

The right side room of the building has the management terminal. The only real option there is destroy which should re-deed the building. To be honest only griefing inane mayors seem too normally destroy a city hall so I can only assume it re-deeds. I have experience re-deeding parks, clone centers, shuttle ports and garages and all of them simply re-deed into my inventory.

Your city status will vanish when you re-deed. There is no way to preserve that and "building really quick" wont fool the computer into thinking its the same old hall.

You said you were moving to a new location. Why are you even destroying the first city? Are you on a planet that has reached capacity for player cities? If you live on say Tatooine near Mos Entha and decided you will have more business near Fort Tuskin, then you plan seems to work.

Destroy your current city. Fly/Drive to your new location and place the city hall. There is a tiny chance on a planet that is at capacity that someone will build a city hall in the time you spend moving locations of course.

If you mean you intend to destroy the city hall and rebuild it in the same spot...well that’s just crazy talk.

Well I did it and for the record:

The City was on Naboo.

Iconfirmed the planet was at its capbefor I completed the task.

I destroyed the old City Hall at the original location and zipped to the new location immediately. I had another character there constantly checking to make sure that no lairs popped in the location where we wanted to place the new City Hall. Upon arrival I was able to immediatley able to place the new City Hall (no waiting for the game to patch).

After this I collapsed from exhaustion and stress!

Congrats! Like I said, I'm pretty that no one on Naboo was sitting there trying to place a hall every moment that you had yours down, unless of course they knew you were doing it ahead of time

Good luck in your new location!

Yeah, congrats.

And yes, chances were slim if you did it fast enough.... But it COULD have happened.

I've read posts by people who are insane enough to try once or twice every single day hoping that they'll get a city placed on one of the major planets.
