Thread: House built without zoning rights is partially in my city

Someone built there house right on the border of my city. This person did not have zoning rights. The back corner of their house is 393m inside out city. Why was someone able to build there without zoning rights if the footprint is partially inside our city? This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time it was a large house whos back corner was 380m in! Almost one full wall was inside our city, and the house was built without zoning. Luckily, that house fell down.

This person's house is on my city's land. I'd like to place a streetlamp there, but I can't because they were able to build INSIDE my city! Whenever I try to place a garden on the edge, I cant, because part of it would be outside the city. But when some knucklehead wants to be on my border, their house can be 7m in?

I placed a streetlamp on this person's porch telling them to email me. This person has also named their home "Hot Babe's House", which I don't really appreciate. Has this ever happened to anyone else? My guild is willing to pay this person to move, even though they should not have been able to build there in the first place. If this person is not cooperative, do you think there is any chance that I could get a csr to move this persons house OUTSIDE my city? I mean, they should not have been able to build there, they are taking a part (albeit a small part)of my city that I pay for. I had a csr move my own house when I was not able go inside, so I know it is possible. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

This because the control terminal is what determines if a structure is in the city. I bet if you go inside the house and stand at the teminal it is outside the city border. Houses with terminals on one side of the structure will do this since the bulk is so far away from the terminal.

Thanks for the info. What a stupid system. The terminal is indeed outside the city. But the fact still remains that the house is partially inside the city and is keeping me from using land that I maintain. Any chance a csr will see it this way? I'm still waiting for the owner to contact me, but no luck so far If he doesn't I guess I'll just jack up the property taxes when we growyo motivate him to move.

That is about all you can do.

BTW, understand the "terminal" statement. A citizen who places his or her house 90% w/in borders but leaves the terminal outside the border will NOT be able to declare. Also, just the terminal (i.e. 90% out of borders) will not work either. Has to be 51% + terminal in city limits...

I've had problems with people declaring citizenship unless the house is 100% inside the border. On our first day, someones back corner was out and whenhe declared he was not a citizen. That was back in December though. Does this terminal rule apply to gardens also? Can half of thegarden be outside as long as the terminal is in?

When my city grew, I found out who the owner of the house was. Someone in my guild knew the person well and the house was moved that day This terminal system is ridiculous. If you dont have zoning rights, you should not be able to build inside the city radius. A large house can be 20m inside your city without zoning. That just makes no sense.

Dunno about garden. it won't matter tho. You either can or can't drop it. If you can't. it's outside the limits. if you can, it's OK where it is, even if 99% is outside

Why jack the guy? If he gets integrated unexpectedly, he's going to find himself paying taxes anyway. If he set up shop on your border, he's probably just going to move again when you grow. I can understand your issue, but sometimes you gotta step back and realize that some problems solve themselves.

You know...I would see it as 1 more person in my city and would be that much closer to my next level. Plus it means for money for the city.

We have a few ex guild members that have turned to the other side, and like to grief us even, but who really cares if they have a house in tow, I prefer they didn't, but really it just helps the city out.

The offender is obviously not a declared citizen. The terminal is outside the city limits thus keeping the person from declaring residence and paying taxes.

Also, you are pretty much screwed. Be careful with the light, that could be construed as a form of greifing. Once again, a politician is rendered helpless to maintain the integrity of his or her own city.

This is correct.A friend of minehad a house placed about 75m outside a city. That city grew to encompass it. The mayor wanted that space and so placed streetlights blocking the entrance as best he could. CSR removed the streetlights and warned the mayor that that was not acceptable. So move cautiously.

As long as the light isn't blocking entrance it should be fine.
