...but I can't seem to find a direct answer to it, only suggested answers. The question is, ifa city is placed with the requisite number of citizens (10?), and then later shrinks to less than the minimum, say, 6 citizens,does it just die instantly, or can it go on?

I'm pretty sure that if your number of citizens shrinks below 10 at any point, you have 3 days to get itback above 10, or the city vanishes.

Well it never checks on how many people there are until the update day. Not sure what happens after that point...but just don't let that happen to be safe

i think that when you population is 5 or below you are at risk of losing the city during next update. it may take a few months for that though

/sigh... everyone take their own guess

as far as I know and was told, when your city updates (7 days in game time) it will check to see if the city has enough citizens to hold its current rank. the server will process the city updates and make appropriate changes to the city, and if the city drops rank it should remove any civic structure that the city's new rank cannot support.

I would assume that the cityhall would be removed if you drop below 10 people at city update, therefore you won't have a city.

any "grace period" for dropping ranks is just hearsay... please don't spread the rumors.

I am positive that 10 people are needed within 24 hours of placing the city hall. I also remember reading that the city will remain as long as it does not dip below 5.
