Thread: Concern Regarding Income Tax
Is it just me, or does the income tax sound like a bad thing? Why do I envision it being implemented poorly?
"Income tax is based on a percentage of your bank account weekly."
Let's say I had 100k in my bank account, and the income tax came in and took a slice. Now, through the next week, I make no more credits, I just sit there. Is income tax going to come in and slice another piece of the pie off of credits that it already taxed last week?
If so, I really recommend that they abolish this concept, because that'd be double-dipping, and it's just not how income tax is done. You don't retax income just because it sat there after you already did the taxation. If left alone, without making new credits, this concept would end up whittling me away to nothing.
I'd recommend it actually only tax new credits made through the week, or abolish the whole income tax thing entirely. To tax my bank account on its amount on a weekly basis isn't income tax, it's "you live in a city, you must pay credits" -- which is already implemented in property tax.
The current tax structure on Test Center allows for the following taxes:
1. Income Tax: 0-1000cr per week
2. Property Tax: 0-50% per hour
3. Sales Tax: 0-20% per sale
4. Shuttle fee: 0-500cr per ticket
So ... for me "Income Tax" is a kind of flat fee (not a percentage) that it costs to be a citizen of this city. And because it could be used to grief (turn up to 100k/week just minutes before the weekly cycle ends) it's caped at 1000cr/week ... so your 100k would last 100 weeks "sitting there".
This fee is partly responsible for you getting access to things like shuttle ports, specials, mititia, gardens, streetlight, terminals, a bank, cloning center ...
I think it's a good deal ... but as other threads point out ... with only 1k per week you can't pay a city ... main part of income will definitly be sales tax or donations
That'd work as well, I could hang with that. Would probably be simpler for devs to implement, too, then trying to track all my new credits. Take a percentage off any tip I get, any mission I run. Hrm, but what about stuff I sell? That already is affected by sales tax. Would another slice happen for income tax at that point, as well?
Regardless, I'd like to make sure that once it's taxed a bundle of my money, it doesn't retax it again the next week. Heck, that's not taxation, that's mafia-esque.
INCOME taxes are a FIXED amount deducted each week from a players bank account if the player is a citizen of that city.
PROPERTY taxes are PCT based taxes of the maint costs of buildings and structures within the city limits. This is added immediately upon placing the deed of the structure and incorporated real time.
SALES tax is a PCT based tax added to the price of an item you put up for sale on a vendor withink city limits.
TRAVEL taxes are a FIXED amount added to the price of a shuttle ticket to the PA city in question.
Income Tax in-game is a FLAT Fee. Once per week you will be charged a FLAT Fee of whatever ammount of credits is set by the mayor. It has actually nothing to do with you in-game income, it is simply a FLAT Fee that you pay.
