Thread: Best way to start city, non-mayor benefits, Chimerea
Just wondering what the likely best method to starting a player city is? I've just started up on Chimerea (Euro) and hope to gain politician when it goes live. Is the best idea to begin a PA of my own, and try to involve other PA's of similar thinking, or to try to recruit individuals to the player city as & when?
Another quick question ... what will a politician be able to do if not the current mayor of a town? Are there still items which can be made, or actions performed which make retaining Politician skills worthwhile?
Anyone else on Chimerea with long-term plans for a player city btw?
Thanks, all!

I think you're misunderstanding, Xytroncore ... the schematics of city buildings will be inserted to excisting architect skillboxes, enabling the architects to craft those buildings the second the patch goes live (or at least the second the servers go up and are stable, several hours after the patch goes live
)
As to organizing a city just about a week before the patch is supposed to come, I believe that could be hard. You would have to get a fair ammount of supporting players behind you that are willing to pump several credits into the project (a PA isn't needed, I guess, Halls take away to much space and money anyway
), if you want to be mayor (and have a n00b char) you will have to aquire those 500 Apprentice XP, and you'll have to keep that crowed you gathered happy so they stay and pay ![]()
DaQuilla, the point being madeby thesecond posterwas that the first posterstarted today on a brand new server, there are no master artisans let alone architectseven yet on the whole server. SOE started two new Euro servers today (Monday).

First, become friends with an architect or two - they are the best friend of a fledgling city. More importantly, a fledgling city is the best friend of an up and comming architect. Not only will they sell a lot of houses -- but they will do very well if they set up furniture stores as you start building your town.
You don't have to wait for the patch to start the town -- ours was founded back in mid-July. The key thing is to build a community -- so it is helpful if you have a social character. I was a merchant. My best customers ended up joining me to found the town.
The following is the thread we posted to attract people:

Now once you have a community of people (you need a core group of 4-5 -- they will help attract others), you need to pick a location. They key is, you want to make it fun to go to your city. Place the city near an attraction like a battlefield, cave, or theme-park. Now the important thing is you don't want to rely solely on that attraction to keep people comming. However, in the begining it will be very helpful to initially draw people. But make sure you also do events -- write up stories about town going ons on your server board. Wepost aperiodic holonet on our server's board. Here is an example of the last one we did:

As to the PA part of your question, if you are not in a PA -- I wouldn't start one just for the town. First, that is extra maintenance and administration you will need to worry about. Secondly, you will be able to attract more people to your town. If the town is focused around a PA you set up for the town -- people may decide not to move in because they don't want to be part ofthat PA. Also, if you are starting from the ground up, by not having it focused around one PA -- you can actually host several in your town.
Hope this helps.
