Thread: Holding on to your Money
I just came here so I am sure this has been answered but . . .
What's to keep someone from keeping all their money in the form of credits on hand (i.e. not in the bank) to prevent from paying tax?
The "income tax" is a flat fee paid by all citizens. It doesn't really look at what you've earned or at whats in your bank.
The amount of income tax paid is determined by the mayor.
Oh, I misunderstood the orginal question. You wanted to know if you could dodge the actual tax collection by having an empty bank. I thought you wanted to know how taxes were calculated.
I'm guessing at this point but if you had no money in your bank and therefore did not pay your taxes you would no longer be a citizen of the city and you wouldn't be able to use the city buildings.
Then perhaps the mayor would send the militia out to rough you up a bit. ![]()
I'm pretty sure I've heard that there is no game penalty for not being able to afford taxes. You can still vote, etc. I have heard that the mayor is alerted to your situation, though, and I suppose she could try to do something about it.
