Please try to keep this post constructive. Thanks.

I know that there may be many politicians out there that wish to participate in the political field but they don't have enough votes to become mayor and still want to gain experience.

There should forms of government. Dictatoships (Single head or oligarchyish), Republic Democracies (With more than one branch), and total democracies (no branches, all measures voted by people)

To chose the form of government aconvention will be called and those in it will be elected by the vote of all citizens/residents. The convention/comittee will be ratified in a vote by 75% of the citizens. The constitution will follow a generic guide and may include a preamble and conclusion. Those in the convention fill in the blanks and submit for ratification.

A. Dictatorship

There will be one branch (executive) with __________ members elected by a vote of yes by ____% of the people. This branch has unabridged rights (i.e. appoint cabinet, raise taxes, salaries, etc.). The cabinet will be appointed by the executive branch and candidates will be confirmed by a yes vote by ______% of the executive. Any and all rulings need a vote of confirmation by _____% of the executive.

B. Total Democracy

There are no branches of government and there is a vote to pass all action proposed by a petition and action is passed when ____________% of the population votes yes.

C. Republic Democracy

There are _______ (2 or 3) branches of government (executive, judicial, legislative).

The Executive with ________ number of members in the cabinet and one mayor. May gets all rights and action can be be vetoed by __________% vote in the legislature or action must be passed by __________% vote. Elections go off every 24 hours to do actions.

The legislature elected once a week by the residents can take action (raise taxes, salary, etc.) if there is a ____________________% vote of yes. There are _________ number of members in the legislature. Salaries of _________ credits per week are passed by a _____________% in the legislature.

The judicial can repeal a ban of a player if a resident calls for a review and trial. If __________________% of the jsutices vote to reapeal the ban then the palyer is unband.

Thanks for reading my post. Constructive Ideas are welcome.

I'm going to post the pros and cons fo each form.

Thanks

Dictatorship-

Pros- Action is done quickly, don't have to bother with many elections.

Cons- If a politician is unfavorable the citizens can not impact his/her actions for a week, when a new election is held.

Total Democracy-

Pros- every feels that fairness and the popular vote is respected

Cons- very slow and many elections are tedious and annoying

Republic Democracy-

Pros- A balance between the other two, politicians get into some healthy competition, all politicians can participate.

Con- A little power is taken from the mayor

dictatorship- militarily oriented city population

pros-since dictators rule with an iron fist, any resistance in there cities will be crushed mercilessly: +20% defense mods to al militia memebers on top of those in the politician tree.At master, politician can place many factioned npcs around the city to patrol for free( with a cap or weekly limit). faction bases can be placed in lvl 5 dictatorship cities.

cons-this cruel government drains the will of the ppl to be productive: minus 20% on crafting bonuses(experimentation, etc.)-20% healing rate(bf, wounds, damage)+20% wait time for shuttleports

republic- military/economically oriented balance

pros- do to the levles of freedom extended to the populace, they are motivated to work and labor: +20% on crafting, +20% healing rate( damage, BF, wounds etc.)master politicians can place faction npcs for a small price. -20% on shuttleport wait times.turrents and other faction installations except bases can be placed throughout the city for protection.

cons-do to more lax security compared to a dictatorship, terrorist from the opposing faction may randomly, from time to time but not too often, cause damage to civic structure(shuttleport, city hall, etc) forcing the city to pay for the repairs. -10% defense mods for all militia members.

pure democracy-economically oriented$$$$$$

pros- due to the liberal nature of the city, and the extreme freedoms granted to the cities citizens, a 40% bonus is given for crafting and healing. -30% waiting time at shuttleport. at lvl 5 city and master politican, starports can be placed in city, encouraging travelto the city. faction npcs can be placed but at a much higher price

cons- the price of their freedom is pourous borders. terrorist from opposing factions(imp/rebel) often sabotage civic structure, forcing the city to pay for extraordinary cost of repairs. no faction structures can be placed within city borders.-20% mods for all militia members.

You got some nice ideas there.

I'm trying to start a large discussion here, because there should be more ways to be a politician than to being a mayor and heyI like to vote [a lot].

Ruling systems should basically follow what was done in civilisation: trade military power for economic efficiency, and vice versa. I know it is possible to get both irl, as the western countries are both the economic and military powers, but I don't see players wanting to suffer the necessary balance to this, that is, that someone needs to play the poor countries the rich countries make their money on. Lots of cities wuld like to be the USA of cities, but who would want to be Thailand?

The military/economics balance is a good one in terms of gameplay.

the tree types of government would reflect the playstyle of different groups and PAs. my PA for example would likely be balanced between economics and military, but only because we value our crafters quite a bit. if it were up to me personally, id be willing to sacrifice economics for a stronghold city glimmering with turrents and packed with faction npcs.

definitely agree they need to build a perk into a city to use multiple poly's to a benefit otherwise a galaxy will only ever use like 20 total, ever.

The Player Cities should also beable to mix the different forms of government.

For example there could still be a judicial (Reviews playerbans)court in a dictatorship or total democracy.

And for the Euorpean players, they may not want a complete separation of the three branches of government. i. e. In the British governmment all office holders serve in the bicameral Parliament. If i'm wrong on this, please correct me.

This plan would also allow cities with many people that want to be politicians, tofuncitionally please the politicians and maintain a sense of healthy competition and balance of power.

Okay you guys might not believe this one, but if my PA forms a city it will be a Theocracy.

*allow that to set in your heads for a second*

My PA is the Church of Alvis. We have made a religion and will have our Archbishop serve as our first(and probably only) Mayor. City decisions will be guided in part by the Archbishop and a few of the Apostles. So I guess technically it serves as an oligarchy.

So this doesn't do much to promote the politician profession since, teh guild has sort of laid the governing responsibility on my shoulders. But there is probably quite a few PA's that will be going along similar setups. "We want a city, hey Ralph how bout you be mayor forever." "Ok"

On the xp for non mayors thing. Doesn't anybody who receives votes get XP. So you could end up getting 40% of the XP available off of a city election. You could advance without actually governing anything? Always be number 2, grind your way master, and be the best poltical loser ever?

Just a few thoughts.

You know you could use this in Roleplaying Purposes. Like maybe a Politician could say I will be a Communist Leader giving all the same also maybe you could make all the mission terminals pay the same no matter of what skills you were. Then another said I will be fair to all members and be for Full Demoracy and then the other saying We will Crush the Rebellion/Empire with our Dictatorship rules.

I guess it will be up to you.
