We are in the process of moving our city from one planet to another and I had a question...

I know a mayor cannot be the mayor of two cities at once so... Can our current city Mayor

resign his mayorship in the old city to take charge as mayor of the new city??

If not then how does our mayor quit the old city? Does he have to be voted out?
