Thread: New Mayor, new hope

Fellow Mayors,
Greetings, I have been trolling these holo messages for the last three weeks anxiously awaiting our cities election, trying to learn as much about the profession as I can. You are all a valuable resource for all up and coming mayors, thank you for all the fantastic information here.
I joined a guild about 6 weeks ago, based in the Rebel City of United New Republic on talus. The city was level 3 city with lots of activity, I moved in and took up duties as the guild and cities Master Architect. I enjoyed this very much, making houses for new folks and city structures as the city grew. The city progressed to around 50 citizens and all of us were very excited about the addition of a shuttle port soon,especially the citizens that had lived in the city for almost a year.
Unfortuntaly something happened, the Mayor and the guild leader did not exactly see eye to eye and I guess they had a falling out, in which everyone seemed to take a side, being new I just stayed out of it. But it got so bad the guild just up and disbanded one day with no warning, the guild leader has disappeared completely, following the email about the guild was an email from the Mayor, he quit and would not be running the city anymore and expected it to decay beyond repair soon. What a shock this was. Fifty people living in the city suddenly are having to not only find a new guild but a new home. Very sad for allot of us who enjoyed our place very much.
I was approached about running for mayor if we could come up with enough money to keep the treasury up. I thought on it realizing I would have to give up allot of skills to take up the politics profession. But reluctantly I agreed. The next few weeks went really well. We formed a new guild, not allot rejoined but some did around 12 or so. The former mayor did have enough class to come remove zoning rights so we could place the new guild hall and recruit people even if the city was mayorless. And since allot had left, the city was going to go down a rank so he picked up the gardens and bank and gave them to me. I thank him for that. Some good did still exist in him.
In a little more than a week we managed to fill the treasury with almost 600k credits. The flow of people out of the city was greater than what we were recruiting, strangely the former militia members seemed to vanish one by one, but we managed to keep around 30 citizens through out the process.
Then a few days before the election someone ells entered the mayor race and started to get votes. Houses from people we did not know started popping up. The guild leader and I usually knew who moved in as we were giving them free small houses and a swoop. Some of these houses were not comeing from us.
It seems that all along some dark force had been causing all the problems in an effort to destroy our rebel city. Apparently a few imp spies had infiltrated the new guild, moved into the city and began "influencing" our members and citizens opinions on the rebel cause. Needless to say all of us were a bit worried and even a bit frightened that the empire and descended upon us.
Luckily for us, there exists a secret society, that none of us were aware of. I am sworn not to tell the tale, but I will say, they fixed our imp problem, exposing and eliminating the infiltrators.
I won the election yesterday those infiltrators that survived left our city and our guild (unfortunately taking houses and swoops given to them by us). The head of this secret society informed me that him and his group would be settling in our city permanently due to them having some "work" to do and needed a remote location to do it. We have offered them as much protection as we are capable of from our newly formed Guild combat teams, and City Militia. We owe them greatly for saving our city from the Empire and the Dark side. We literally have A New Hope.
Your advise is more important to me now than ever before, please keep those holo messages flowing, I will be watching for your continued insight.
