Hi guys,
I was just wondering around some once great citys that are dieing and other new ones that are starting up. Bingo I had this idea which in theory will help with player involment in citys as well as player interaction and keeping citys vibrant. Potentially this could also link in with JTL. Have a meaning for master ect.(note this may get edited as this is the first draft)
The Idea
1. True metropolis's. These would be run by a govener (master only). Right now that simply means more land and some more gardens ect. Well I propose this... To qualify as a metropolis, you need to have providences... interlinked citys. These would be run by a sudo mayor (non master...some qualifying rank in the skill tree). That mayor is truely a mayor of his provence, but not of the city. Like citys now that would be an extended guild so to speak.
2.Mayors vs Goveners. A govener is a poli master only. As is now he would "oversee" the whole metro. He could email all of them ect. He can not however run more then the main providence. The taxes he set would govern the entire city however. He would be in charge of the created city council.... The city council would be comprized of the other mayors and himself.Potentially, the mayors could vote in the govenor. Or citizens vs weighted votes of mayors like the US does with the electoral college. Hopefully some things were looking for like "zoning of areas" will be instituted inthe game in which case the govener could zone an area in each provence for one decoration and of course each provence would want the rest of the city stuff, so they could compete for it to a degree...aka win the favor of the govener and maybe you get the shuttle (or a starport if were lucky?). The mayorcan email his own providence only. Assign militia for his provence only.He can place decorations w/in his limit only. This however would cost a lot less on sp and thus be desireable by many more.
3. Provence vs the city itself. Each provence could (if qualifying) declare a specialty and there could be no more then 5 per metro with a cap of 2-3 metro's per planet. Each provence could charge taxes on top of the citys (like irl, the citys would be smaller % but cover a bigger area to still pay for everything). Each provence would have to be fiscally responcible as now but the city govener could choose to help at risk of disgruntlement of the other citizens of course.
What this does.
Basicly this creates more of a conglomerate of players making it what they want in terms of easy to find items
It means more players interacting, closer to the scale of the NPC citys and deffinatly creates that traffic and thus more fun and interaction
It means people who would like mayor could be w/o the bad (to them) sp cost
It means that the tiny citys now have big city advantages
Ideally it would be a way to have starports for npc citys.
It should in theory lighten the load per mayor while increasing the actually citizen interaction because multi people are responsible for the big undertaking
It means that not one person has the power.
It means more fun while less work
It means more vibrant citys and truely a place for people to come see and interact
It creates a more viable place to sell your wears or to entertain or get entertained/ healed ect...
Lets do it!

It does sound like a lot more politics ... that's for sure ... It would be very nice to be able to have seperate "provinces" or "neighbourhood" of a city that could be managed by different people ... especialy with different specialisations!
But ... I think that the amount of dev work that would have to go into this to make it happen would be far to much in relation to the 2-3 metros that actually profit from this system. Overall it also wouldn't be less work ... there would be far more overhead in coordinating the different regions of a city ... and the normal overhead every sub-mayor would have adds to that.
But none the less ... if I had unlimited resources (=money and time) while designing SWG2 ... I would like to implement something like this

I agree with the above, it sounds like to much work for them guys. It would be cool for it to be placed in the game though , being able to do less work and share teh runnign cost over the provience etc, Citizen integration needs to be increased and I feel that this would probally help alot, especially allowing starports in these "Proviences" would be Excellent.
I know you mena welll with your ideas, I mean we all do , but I don't think the dDevs are concerned with us /cry.

i agree that the likelyhood of this is tiny at best..... boiled down to its core, this is simply allowing citys to be built side by side w/o the required distances. So in terms of basic systems, thats it.... obviously if they were gunna take the time to do this, it req. worring about sever load ectso the rest was how to make that idea shine. also the reason for lets metro's is because they'd affect more people because instead say 100-200 ppl in a city it may be 800 or so and 10x the visitors
